1440p give more space in game than 1080p

I saw ASUS advertised their high end ROG PG278Q gaming monitor with 1440p as one of the benefit that it suppose to give you have room in game than 1080p. I recently bought DELL S2716DG 27” Gaming Monitor 1440p. From my own experience 1440p doesn't give me anymore room than 1080p. I tested it out with a number of different games which it make no difference to me. Anyone can confirm that?
