Can I run two 950s on RAID 0 for video editing?
Any idea as to SSD configuration for video editing and gaming?
I'm planning on getting a laptop with the new 1080M GPU when DS comes out with a list.

So i was thinking:
OS/Programs/Pagefile - 1x 256GB Samsung 850 EVO
Games/Media/Projects/MediaCache/Previews/Exports - 2x 512GB Samsung 950 PRO on RAID 0.

Sorry for the vagueness, I can clarify down the thread if needed.

~~~~~~~
Is it recomended to OVERCLOCK the CPU and GPU too? [assuming im using a laptop and 6700K and 1080M, and premium thermal paste]
Would there be issues with overheating down the line?
EDIT- i feel like im in the wrong forum?
I would not oc a laptop.
I would go single 950 pro for OS/Programs/Pagefile
and raid 850 for Games/Media/Projects/MediaCache/Previews/Exports.
the performance gain on the raid while great on the 950 pro, does not seem to be big enough to be worth going raid IMHO.
On a side note. There are no more "m" model for GPU's. Laptops will have the full fledge (or slightly different but damn near the same) desktop cards in laptop. 1060 up to the 1080.
Wouldn't I just get 950 for both boot and storage? Raid 0 with 850 only doubles speed which would be like 1.1GB/s vs 950s 1.5GB/s?
All I'm afraid of is the 50% higher chance of a drive failing on raid 0... I mean. Are these 950 pro SSDs reliable?
Sorry if I'm sounding naive. Would love to learn.
Just because you have 2 drives it does not mean chance of failure goes up by 50%, yes 2 drives means higher chance of losing data due to loss of drive, but not by 50%, since there is no guarantee that one drive or the drives fail to begin with. Chance drive failure is dependent on that particular drive really. Samsung makes good drives they should be ok. For me a drive has had to be out for 3 to 5 years for me to comment on its reliability.
Why dont you just clone your raid to an external so if you lose a drive you dont lose data.
Ya raid 10 but your fastest speed will be as fast as your slowest drives.
But if you just clone the raid to an single external twice a week or so you will be ok, worts case senario if you clone twice a week and your raid fails you will lose only 3 days of data, if you clone every night and lose raid you will lose data just for that day.
but ya if you want strip and mirror from your raid 10 is the best way.
Well with those gpus in the new laptops you gonna have to.
