Budget: $4000-$4200

My last machine was also from DS purchased 5 years ago (SLI GTX 480) real ancient I know Frustrated. Now I finally saved enough to buy a new machine. The machine will mainly be use for gaming (hoping to finally experience 4k gaming) and movies. I also hope this machine can be somewhat future proof (hoping to use it for 5+ years like the old one). In terms of overall longevity, should I go for the Noctua CPU cooler instead of the Corsair? Also, is there a huge difference between using DS certified rams compare to the Corsair ones (trying to save as much money as possible).

I assume this will be a desktop...the ticket number you have up there is an old laptop with dual 680M GPUs.

You can add additional storage if you want (or you can use drives you already have and save the money). Also, wait a little while for UltraHD Blu-ray drives to come to market. This has closed loop water cooling for the CPU and both GPUs, so it'll be maintenance-free and have good performance when gaming for long periods.

here's the abridged advice:  pick your case of interest and stick $1300-1400 worth (2x980ti's) of graphics in it.  add a 1000w psu to power it and the rest of your system; get 16GB of system ram and a decent high capacity ssd (i.e. 1TB Samsung EVO) and you're good to go. Big%20Smile

something like an Apollo level 4 comes in under $4k

in regards to the DS system ram:  i'm not sure if the memory modules they get from various vendors support xmp or overclocking with these baseline (i.e. Corsair "value select" series) sticks, you'd have to confirm with DS, but i suspect not.  i'm not really into overclocking memory, but i do like to set the xmp profile, so to be safe i'd choose the mid range memory line like the Corsair Vengenace LPX which supports XMP 2.0 if i were you.
