Topic: 4K troubles with new Win10 update 5/16/18 Posted: 17 May 2018 at 2:23pm |
Yesterday, I downloaded and installed a sizable Win10 update (Ver. 1803 - OS build 17134.48). I've now noticed that I can no longer DSR games in 4k on my 1440p monitor. The game either chooses to ignore the request and just reverts immediately back to native or it will minimize the game to the system tray and won't let me open it back up. Anyone heard about this? I guess I should mention that I've not had this issue before. Even leading up to the day of, before I installed that night. Google hasn't turned up much...
I'm playing on a 2550x1440 AGON AOC monitor with G-sync. Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K (6-Core) 3.70GHz Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z370-P (Intel Z370 Chipset) (Up to 2x PCI-E Devices) (No SLI Support) System Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series Power Supply: 600W Corsair / EVGA (Supports up to an NVIDIA GTX 1080 Graphics Card) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (500GB Digital Storm Performance Series) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (2TB Seagate / Toshiba) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB (Performance Edition) (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance) CPU Boost: Stage 1: Overclock CPU - Up to 4.6GHz (Depends on Cooling and Motherboard) |

Sometimes issues like this are fixed after hard restarting your pc. Not soft Restart, but shutdown and power on. Make sure DSR is enabled first.

No dice
Double checked, DSR is at x2.00. Thanks for the thoughts, though. Gonna keep trouble shooting. |

You checked DSR in Nvidia Control Panel?
If still a no go, I would download and install the latest GeForce drivers for the 1080 TI. That will also give you a new Control Panel. The latest OS update might’ve tanked your drivers. Edited by bprat22 - 17 May 2018 at 2:54pm |

Just read a list of complaints with the latest Win10 update and the graphics card in Nvidia Control panel disappearing for some was one of them. Reinstalling graphics driver was the fix. So it does mess with Nvidia.

I updated to a latest patch that had just dropped last night, before I went to bed. No change.
Going to try a full uninstall and reinstall when I get home after work and see what happens with that. Thanks again. And for the leg work. It's not an end all- be all if I can't. 2k is plenty fine. It's just nice to be able to DSR when you can. |
