I tend to agree insofar as the core Tolkien library is concerned, though I honestly found The Silmarillion to be a bit of a chore in some areas. In fact a lot of what was put together by his son was a bit too encyclopedic for me (I, somewhat coincidentally, never finished Unfinished Tales and only scarcely skimmed The History of Middle-earth's earlier volumes). However, The Children of Húrin, was really well polished and I enjoyed it. |
