I did it. After much thought, research, and discussion - I finally clicked on the submit button. I have to admit, I was nervous. So nervous when I tried to order the first time, I timed out and the order was never processed. I certainly hope it wasn't or I will be out in the dog house for the next 20 years (you bought 2 gaming computers????!!!)
I would like to thank all of those that helped me to finally come to a decision on the build. The list is large. Thanks to db188. Sly2518, hoserator, Snaike, Salangsang, Alex, bprat22 and a special thanks to DST4ME who reminds me of that big brother I never had. I ordered the freight handling just to be safe. I am keeping my fingers crossed that if any damage does occur, it is minimal and fixable. I just wished that DS would have let us know on the configuration page that the 1080 graphic cards are on backorder. Would have been nice to know before I began the build. So Digital Storm, Start the build. Grab those 1080's when they come in and build my baby Velox. Just Please, ..... when you deliver it just don't drop it on it's head. That is a nice beast and it was an honor helping you
You are gonna love that beast Congrats Let the torture begin If I forgot to mention keep in mind you are getting 3 year labor and 1 year part, so if you want longer part warranty raise that up, if not when something goes bad after the first year you are going to have to ram to the manufacturer aka 14 to 21 days wait depending, just fyi. Congratulations. That is a strong system.
I agree with DST4ME with regards to the warranty. We end doing the labor ourselves so you are really interested in getting the parts and 1 year flies by. Enjoy the system and share your experiences. We don't have to remind you of pics, do we? (maybe we'll get a preview at Stage 8.) |

Congrats. That is a real nice rig.
I went with the 5 year/3 year part warranty for the convenience of one stop troubleshooting and parts replacement. It paid for itself 2.5 years in with a graphics card replacement. Enjoy. |

Okay....so I just used Request Help for warranty info. I certainly hope they will allow me to upgrade the warranty. After all, I just literally ordered it last night. So hopefully they will answer me soon.
Thank you! Your request has been sent. A Digital Storm representative will contact you as soon as possible. If you do not receive a call or email within 24 hours, please call toll free, 1-866-81-STORM. |

I went with the 5 year part warranty for $99 over the 4 year part warranty.
3 psu-s, 2 mobos, 2 pumps and 2 gpus, 2 hdds, and 2 dvdplayers later, needless to say it paid for itself |

Very happy to receive a very quick response from DS.
"It's not too late to upgrade the warranty. It's only too late when we ship it out and you received your system. We can make the changes if you like. Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) is free the one you selected Life-time Expert Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty (4 Year Labor & 2 Year Part Replacement) is +$99 Life-time Expert Care with 5 Year Limited Warranty (5 Year Labor & 3 Year Part Replacement) +$299 Life-time Expert Care with 6 Year Limited Warranty (6 Year Labor & 4 Year Part Replacement) +$499" Thank you Francis! |

I could be wrong but I believe if you talk to Alex you can get 7 year labor 5 year part for $599, just in case you were interested.

How do you talk to Alex?
Francis just responded to my email (now that's quick) and said there were no other options beyond the 6 yr labor 5 yr parts. I would rather have the 5 yr part and spend the extra money. |

email him and see what he says, maybe they stopped it but in the old days pass 4 year part, each extra year was available for $99 for each extra year. |

Question: if we upgrade the gpus by getting the new cards from DS (I know if we get them from third parties we are not covered by DS warranty), are we covered on the new cards for the remaining original term , or a new whatever "parts" term we had purchased originally?
Sorry to hijack the thread but felt it was kind of related since it is normal to do change the gpus after 2-3 years. I went for the 4 year part replacement. Always go for the max. given. DS is usually tops in giving longer warranties IMO. I have 980s and am already thinking about how those new Titans would be the perfect fit. Edited by hoserator - 20 Aug 2016 at 3:19am |

I could be wrong check with Alex to be sure, but if your part goes bad say for example the 980, the replacement for it will have the same part warranty as the system.
But if you upgrade to the titan you will have to go with DS warranty that is on the titan. Again check with Alex to confirm. |

A replacement card because of a defect gets the remainder of the system warranty. A new, upgraded card would need its own warranty. Not sure the warranty offered for individual parts. Never bought just parts from them.
I would think the upgraded card would be cheaper elsewhere, like Newegg, Amazon, but no DS part support, but still the manufacturer warranty. You still get troubleshooting support, I think. |

I think DS does one year warranty on the components also. Again I could be wrong.

Thanks for the reponse bpratt22. As to the above, mine are under water and I would have to get the blocks and install on the card(s) and that's where my LTE kicks in (Lack of Technical Expertise). Might be too ........... for me. I rather get them ready to hook up to the QDCs on the pc. I get that the new ones, even if purchased from DS, would not be covered on the remaining system purchased warranty. |

I was able to add the 5 yr warranty quite easily. Francis from DG was super quick in responding back to me. |

Unbelievable, I guess lots of folks at DS work 24/7. ALex got back to me on a Saturday no less. Dissappointed that the 5 yr part warranty is no longer available but so far ... I am really liking the customer service". "I’m sorry but we stopped offering that. We only offer the warranty options listed on the site. Warm Regards, Alex " |

I would mention the most important stage 9 after DST4ME provides extreme technical assessment as Stage 8 but few people need to go to stage 9.
Stage 9 is my special 5 year burn in that is available for no charge. I rarely offer this 5 year free burn in but you seem to be the type of person that could appreciate my services. Just let me know! |

Always read the fine print.
Stage 1: Payment processed Stage 2: Inventory assigned to order's build-bin Stage 3: Order is waiting in que for assembly team Stage 4: Order is being assembled Stage 5: Order is being tested Stage 6: Order is in que for QA team Stage 7: Order has passed QA and is in que to be packaged and shipped Stage 8: Order has shipped to Dst4me for final testing for 2 years and then shipped to you Stage 9: Onkel_Ken's special 5 year burn in test Well the charts don't lie, as this chart clearly shows that customers with stage 8 and 9 testing were most satisfied customers: This chart is not made by guru3d and does not represent the opinion of guru3d.By reading this post you are agreeing to this post. By agreeing to this post you agree to give your pc to DST for unseen future for testing, after which DST can keep you pc with your consent that you are giving now. You also agree to by DST another lambo and a very nice 120 foot Yacht. Edited by DST4ME - 22 Aug 2016 at 12:01am |
