Budget:
$2000-2500 Expectations: I would like to be able to run most graphically intensive triple A titles such as The Witcher 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda on ultra settings comfortably without worrying about overheating the system. Usage: This build will most likely strictly be used for gaming and other entertainment things like streaming Netflix, Amazon video, etc. Special Needs: I would like the build to be able to transition smoothly into future upgrades. I'm not sure if liquid cooling is overkill or not? Hi CommanderFyr.... Looks good but I would make a couple of suggestions....
Your 1080Ti pick is dependent on your monitor. For 4K, the 1080Ti is the right choice. If you game at 1080P then the 1070 will do it. Nothing wrong with a stronger card, but just not needed and can save some money. The 7700K Turbo's to 4.5 Ghz, so the added Processor Overclock isn't needed. You could select the stage 2 for 4.8Ghz if you wanted to bump it up a bit. In the Recovery Tools, select the CD option. If the drive dies the partition won't do you much good. No internal lighting to add some bling ? Good Luck. Edited by bprat22 - 23 Apr 2017 at 8:07am |

I got the Dell Gaming S2417DG YNY1D 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC. It only goes up to 1440p w/ a 165 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time. Am I still better off going with the 1070? Also is liquid cooling really necessary or can I get by with air cooling? I've never had liquid cooling before and having liquid inside the build makes me a little nervous. Thanks for replying. |

If you want 1440p with fps above 100fps then the gtx 1080ti might be the choice. The gtx 1080 is great for 1440p 60hz, but a lot of games stay well below 100fps.
Unfortunately DS dropped the better Noctua D15 air cooler, a great pick, so one of the Corsair H series is the only good choice with higher overclock. |
