When it comes to gaming monitors, you can't go wrong with IPS G-sync monitors. They are absolutely amazing. The image quality is superb, and once you experience G-sync you can't live without it.
Here are my two favorite monitors. I have owned both of them: https://youtu.be/_LTHr96NueA https://youtu.be/VqsQBeAW8kk |

i was looking at those monitors on the youtube channel and they seem pretty awesome but the price holy smokes. what other monitors are out there that can be compared to those. 32" is a bit to big for me i think im not sure i sit pretty close to the screen.

Yeah, those are some expensive monitors.
What size monitor are you thinking about? |

You will want to go for a 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1080 resolution monitor with SLI 960 cards. Acer has a G-Sync 1080p monitor for <$400.
Personally, I'm waiting for Nvidia to start supporting FreeSync to get adaptive refresh. My monitors tend to last me a while and I'd want a technology that is going to last for the long-haul. Intel signed G-Sync's death warrant earlier this year. |

Well I've always had nvidia cards so if gsync or free sync wouldn't be a difference I guess. As it seems Acer are the monitors to look at for gaming performance?
I'm assuming 75hz or 144 Hz is the way to go these days, not sure about LCD or led. Quad HD the Acer predator xb271hu bmiprz 27 inch with gsync seems like the monitor with my specs Edited by MaxFactor - 04 Dec 2015 at 9:16pm |

I had the Asus PG278Q last year. It's a decent monitor for gaming, but I wasn't very impressed with the image quality. It's a TN panel rather than IPS, so that explains why. IPS displays always look better. Later on I upgraded to the Acer XB270HU, and that looked MUCH better.
Here is basically what to look for in a gaming monitor: • Screensize: Bigger is generally better. Get 27" if you can afford it. • 1080p or 1440p. The higher the better, but keep in mind what your graphics card can handle. 1440p will give you lower framerates. • G-sync if you can afford it. This eliminates tearing, stuttering and input lag. I would highly recommend it. • IPS (rather than TN). This will improve image quality significantly. Earlier this year I thought I could tolerate TN, so I gave it a try. I was surprised how much worse it looked, and I went back to IPS. • High refresh rate: The refresh rates go all the way up to 144 Hz. Personally, I can't tell the difference once the refresh rate exceeds 100 Hz. I think 144 is overkill. • Fast pixel response time: A good response time will make your games feel snapper. However, don't obsess about this too much. You don't need 1ms to be happy. I currently have 4ms, and it's great. • Price: This is the hard part. Your goal is to get as many of the above features without the monitor costing a ton. If you want a cheaper monitor, then you'll probably have to sacrifice some features. The Acer XB271HU looks amazing, but yeah...that might be hard to find. It will be pricey. The Acer XB270HU is also amazing, and might be easier to find. It will be pricey too. The Asus PG278Q is decent, but you give up image quality since it's a TN panel. By the way, here is a list of all G-sync monitors: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync/where-to-buy-g-sync-monitors-and-modules James |

I think I'll be going with the Acer xb270hu or xb271hu if I can find one. I still got to the 11th to decide but thanks for the massive input it really helped out, last time I bought a monitor there was no gsync and 4k and so on lol

that Asus PG278Q is a TN panel 1440p 144Hz monitor that cost as much or more as the Acer Predator IPS. i'd go with the Acer if it were me. there's also a new IPS version of the Asus (PG279Q) out or coming out soon that will of course be more expensive than either.
G-Sync version 2 also comes with HDMI as well as DP I/O options, in case that matters to anyone. it might be hard to find the older models now as everyone is pushing their newer (more expensive) models like: the Acer XB271HU. although i just did a search from pcpartpicker and found it avail here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UPVXDA8/?tag=pcpapi-20 for $709+free shipping Edited by db188 - 05 Dec 2015 at 4:24pm |

I have the Acer XB270HU and am really happy with it. Got it about 2 months ago off Amazon for $719.00 brand new.
I would have liked a 4k monitor but the technology isn't there yet. (And good ones are really expensive!) |

Hey Guys, finally after waiting a while and a little help with a stock check homepage i was able to snatch a Acer Predator XB271HU and i love this thing. i got no dead pixels but 1 thing i did see is i got some backlight bleeding in the top left corner, the bottom right seems to be NT not sure though.. The Green light is from my keyboard :p
im new to these kind of monitors so i dont know if this is a issue or will be a issue later on? what you guys think? Edited by MaxFactor - 14 Dec 2015 at 6:40pm |

It's not unusual to have a little backlight bleed...as long as it's not excessive.
Try pushing or tapping on the screen slightly. I know that sounds lame, but I've had monitors where some light pressure fixed the issue. Edited by JamesAstro - 14 Dec 2015 at 6:45pm |

Acer isn't really known for build quality. being that as it may, panel uniformity can vary between units; however, i've noticed that the lower right quadrant seems to consistently show the most deviance from a preferred target of luminance. i'd try an rma for another unit to see if you can get lucky with a better panel.
also, IPS panels in general are going to have pretty bad contrast ratios and "IPS glow" which is often confused with back light bleed. |

if it's to the point where it bother you in games, you should probably rma or get a refund and switch to a different panel technology or manufacturer. it's one thing to see it on a completely black screen, but if the panel is that bad (or a user is that sensitive to it) i would always recommend a change. if another unit doesn't resolve the problem (and it just might be that IPS tech isn't good for you) i'd recommend moving towards a VA or TN panel type. VA is similar to IPS when it comes to viewing angles and color representation, but with higher contrast ratios (deeper blacks). TN panels are fast, good ones can achieve higher contrast ratios than IPS panels, but they suffer from poor viewing angles and their colors can't equal IPS (but good models are still fine for most people).

I know it's set pretty high, but I used the calibration mode that the monitor Comes with, haven't messed around with it much just the pre set settings.
