Budget:
2500.00
Expectations:
Gaming PC (MMO's mostly)and Longevity.

I purchased my last DS system in 2009. It's made it this far and now it's time for another. I'm on a tight budget of 2,500.

This iSystem Configuration:

-Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Corsair Carbide Quiet 400Q
-Processor: Intel Core i7 6700K 4.0GHz (Codename Skylake) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core)
-Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO (Intel Z170 Chipset) (Up to 5x PCI-E Devices)
-System Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Digital Storm Certified -Performance Series
-Power Supply: 750W EVGA SuperNOVA (750 B1)
-Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (512GB Samsung 950 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance)
-Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (1TB Seagate / Toshiba)
-Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1070 8GB (EVGA ACX 3.0) (VR Ready)
-Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 120mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler
-Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow)
-Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans
-CPU Boost: Standard Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Automatic Overclocking
-Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (64-Bit Edition)

I have never experienced using the NVMe drives before so I was concerned with their overheating and the Quiet Slade case I have selected. I love the absolutely love the Hailstorm II look but sadly that system is just out of league this time around.

Any help, thoughts or advice would be appreciated. TYVM!

Is there a particular reason you picked that mobo?

Was just keeping the future in mind. looks to be a little better put together than the Z170. That was all.

90% of your noise comes from gpu's fan, next will be cpu fans or if you are on lc then the fans on the rad.

There is no way around that unless you put the gpu under lc also, which then requires custom ordering quiet fans. All that will jack the price up. The case you have chosen at best will take away 5dba of the noise, that is with the top closed, but if you get the lc then it needs to go on top keeping the top open, if you don't get lc and keep the top closed, the case will not have the best airflow which then will result in the temps in your case be a bit higher, which then results in your fans having to work at higher speeds to combat the heat, and higher fans = more noise. Long story short if you want a real quiet pc, you need quiet fans and custom lc system which cost money.

So you need to choose if you want real quiet and pay more money or chose perfomrance over noise.

we can put both cpu and gpu under lc and without the quiet fans and etc we are already looking at $3k.

Without lc on gpu, as soon as you start playing games withing 10 to 20 min you will hear that fan windup and the noise is loud.

so what would you like to do? pay more for custom parts for quiet pc or deal with the noise of gpu on air?

Thank you for the reply!

Performance > noise for sure. I liked the look of the Slade but now I'm thinking Hailstorm II or Velox.

Ideally I wanted the 1080 card and the NVMe drive. I guess those are the 2 options I'd prefer over everything. I do love the water cooling but I'm not sure I can add the water cooling on top of those 2 unless the price was >3,500.

What would you suggest?

I prefer HD quality in whatever I am watching or max graphics for whatever I am playing. Dual monitors down the road would be nice. I do like the 4k but it's not a must have for me. VR is viable but I'm not chasing that right now until more comes down the pipe.

Ok then for HD (1080P) and MMO games the 1080 is pointless unless you want to flush your money down the toilet, in which case why not go with the 1060 and instead of flushing the difference down the toilet send it to me

here is what you need more than what you need and some of the thing you asked for:

Click Image To Go To Configuration Page

Sorry it took a bit I just wanted to make sure I get everything right for what you needed and wanted, only thing you didn't get is the 1080 but as I explained it would be a waste of your money.

Ask DS to connect all the fans to the mobo so you can control them via freeware.

unless one your games needs more then 6GB of vram.
