I recently got an Apollo system that includes the fan upgrade kit. Long story short, my rig includes 2 fans mounted on the top (ceiling) of the inside of the case.
My question is for others with similar set ups. Do you constantly remove and replace that top dust cover on the Apollo case, every time you boot and shut down the rig? Sometimes I forget and leave it on, which I think overworks the fans. Other times the opposite, I leave it off while it's shut down for a while, and dust probably gets in there. I guess there really is no other option, but I wondered how bad it might be to just leave that cover off all the time, or if I'll one day regret it! |

You can probably do what most people with the case have and get some magnets or something and have the top floating

Interesting, thanks for the suggestion. I suppose I could make something like that work! |

I would leave the top cover off all the time. Fans can burn out if blocked. If the fans are on exhaust, blowing out the top, any little dust that settles overnight will be blown away.
Just me. |

the 450 had a magnetic dust cover up there. i wonder if Corsair has an optional one now for this case due to all of the negative feedback about it not including one with this ~$200 case? at any rate, you really only need dust filters on "intake" fans. you can always have a custom magnetic dust filter made. check out here: http://www.demcifilter.com/p0513/Corsair-760T-Dust-Filter-Kit.aspx

You're probably right, I didn't think about it like that. Yeah there are two exhaust fans there blowing air out through the top. And I've accidentally left the cover on before. Dust probably isn't that big a deal since once it's turned on it'll blow it right out anyway. |
