I wanted to take a few minutes to write up a review on the Digital Storm Apollo. I ordered my comp on Monday the 20th of oct, and received it on Friday the 24th of October. (Priority build, and overnight shipping) I have been into hardcore pc gaming since pretty much the beginning, I've always had a rig that was capable of running all the newer games.....but never like this, My Apollo configuration dominates anything I've ever seen before, max settings on any game I load, every game boots up instantly and runs crisp and smooth and quite. From ordering the comp to receiving it, everything went amazingly smooth, from the beginning I was confident that I was dealing with professionals and that I was getting my money's worth.
The first thing you notice about the computer.... is the computer, this thing is freaking massive, I mean knew it was a big comp, but it's huge. (60 pounds and over 2 & 1/2 feet tall and wide) It's deff the show piece of any room you put it in, and the quality and care that went into this machine is evident from first glance, it's truly beautiful. Everything was built exactly how I wanted it, and exactly how I would of done it myself.
It fired up smooth right out the box, I didn't have to do anything but install my games, and I've never seen games run so smooth and crisp before, I deff feel like I got more than what I paid for with this rig, and I would recommend using Digital Storm for whatever your looking for, be it big or small, this company knows what there doing. I'll wrap this up with the specs of my build, and several photos.

Just a little one Month later review, I'm still madly in love with my Apollo, everything runs on it so amazingly well. Been playing Dragon Age Inquisition with everything on Ultra, and theres not a spot of lag anywhere, everything is beautiful.

Anyway I could get my review moved over to the review section?

I'm actually loving the EVGA cards, I've never heard a peep out of them yet, and even after a 7-8 hour gaming fest my temps never rise above the norm. The entire system as a whole is pretty quite, as you can see in the photo's I have it up top on my desk for the world to see, and I don't sit that far away from it at all, and it never gets loud enough for me to notice over the other common noises in the room.

Glad to see you got a good X99 board.  Be sure to watch for the BIOS updates for them as Asus is putting them out pretty regularly since its a new board.  Only issue is that it will wipe your BIOS overclock settings so you will need to document everything before you flash it if you plan to.

Quick update, been playing Dying Light all week, and it shows off the amazing computer that DS has built so very well. Not that I didn't appreciate my computer before, but traversing Harran's gorgeous cityscape on a 4k display with maxed out graphic settings almost brings a tear to my eye.

Dwik30 - how do you like Dying Light.  I bought it but my machine is so old I won't be able to run it on it (just waiting to get through Feb or so until I put my DS order in).  I'm really curious to hear how you like the game - it looks gorgeous (well as much as undead zombies could look pretty)!

I like to think of myself as a pretty tough video game critic, I run through most games in no time at all, average time I put into a game is about 8 hrs tops. I'm going on 40 hours in the first week of launch, and I'm still amazed, I'm at like 53% of the story mode finished, and it's a very well written story, keeps you drawn into it from the very beginning. There is always something different to discover, or a different way of doing something, the physics of the game just blow me away, even the weather you can use to your advantage, my mind is still blown. And like you said, it's soooooo beautiful. And that's just during the day, playing at night has honestly had my heart pounding sitting at the edge of my screen, scared, nervous, excited. It's an amazing game, get it when you upgrade your comp. OR if you can't wait, from what I read the ps4 version is graphically not that far off at all from running it maxed out on a pc.

Ha! Most games I play, I'm just getting started in 8 hours. Once I start playing a game it takes that long just to figure out what I'm doing and which way I'm going to do it.

Definitely looking forward to play Dying Light.  I've got the game sitting right here on my desk now.  Damn real life gets in the way of all the fun things!  I've heard a lot of good things about Far Cry too!

Love the rig Dwik, I am looking to purchase one in the coming weeks. My only concern was how I'm going to access my wi-fi. I do not have access to hard wire unless I keep my setup in the living room...which is not happening..and I'm renting right now..so I'can't drill and run wires. How do you like the " PCI-E ASUS PCE-N53" any issues with connectivity at all?

I just want to make sure I go the correct route. I did some research and I am not sure I really want a motherboard that is wi-fi capable, seems a lot of people have had issues with them. I am more interested in a PCI card than a USB adapter, but I thought I'd ask how your experience with it has been before I go that route.

Thanks!

I actually have the same issue with not being able to run a hard wire to my rig all the time. The PCI-E is actually really nice, has amazing connectivity, gets better signal than my laptop does. I was also worried about using a wifi capable motherboard, but the motherboard I have is indeed wifi capable, and even though I don't really use it, it always shows full bars even without the external antennae connected to it lol.

Oh, great! This is good news to hear. I don't think the motherboard I'm going with is wi-fi capable...I can double check though. Either way I will get the PCI-E and see how it goes, I am glad you are having such a great experience with it, and everything in general!

Also, thanks for the response!

Hi misstwiztd,

The PCI-e card is the way to go but the 802.11n/g/b may not be the best way to do it. Look into a 802.11/AC router and 802.11ac/n PCI-e card for the computer. The speed and distance of the 802.11ac router/PCI-e/ac card is twice as fast as a n level setup. If you are budget limited I would still buy the 802.11ac PCI-e card. It should be backward compatible with a n level router. Then buy the 802.11ac/n router when you can afford it.
