Topic: Apollo USB Help Posted: 24 Feb 2017 at 9:34am |
Hey all,
Just have a few concerns before I purchase my new Apollo system. I am planning on getting the Apollo with the Maximus IX Hero and the Corsair H115i. Now here's my concern, the Apollo has 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the front panel. The Maximus IX Hero has 4 USB 3.0 at the back and 2 mid board, and 4 USB 2.0 at the back and 2 mid board. Now all the mid board connectors will be used to power the front panel USB ports, meaning there won't be any left for the H115i Corsair Link software, which requires a USB 2.0 mid board. I am concerned they'll just leave out the Corsair Link software. Any help would be appreciated! Edited by Saad0612 - 24 Feb 2017 at 9:35am |

The front panel I/O wiring uses only a single USB 2.0 and a single USB 3.0 connector to the mobo, I believe.

Oh man I hope that's the case lol, I'll do some research on the 760T. Thanks for the response though!

Google 760t front I/O wiring and you'll see the fan control plugs, audio and the USB connectors. Very similar to my 600t case, the predecessor to the 760t.
Good luck. |

Alright so I found out that the USB 3.0 connector goes into one of two USB 3.0 headers on the mobo. And that's the same for the USB 2.0, just into one of two 2.0 headers on the mobo, meaning one 2.0 header left for the H115i!. You were right my friend!

Forget about my previous post. The mobo only has ONE onboard 3.0 and 2.0 header. So my concern still remains...the front panel 2.0 connector will go onto the 2.0 onboard header and same for the 3.0...meaning the H115i won't have an open header for its USB connection...

Call or email DS about any compatibly concerns. They might just use a USB hub.
Or, pick another mobo if there is a problem. I haven't checked that mobo so can't say. |

I think I'll wait till they put up a Z270E Strix Gaming mobo. That one has built in wifi along with the required USB headers. Can't say if they'll ever do it, because its been out for some time now and not popped up on their configurator.

DS is a boutique so if you have any special needs and/or requests, they will try to accommodate you for a fee. They can get the part you want for you or you can get it and send and they will install. (or they used to) Don't remember how the warranty is affected but you can ask when submitting the request for the parts (mobo). Good luck.

You'd have to call them and talk to sales. I believe, however, as hoserator hinted at, that special orders aren't covered under their warranty, but still have the manufactures warrant., usually 3 years or so.

I think I'll just wait for them to put an Asus Z270E mobo, as that has everything I need. I just hope they do lol
