Hi folks,

I have a DS built HAF 922 with a ASUS P6X58D Premium Mobo.  A couple of days ago I purchased a Samsung 5400rpm external 1 TB OWC external drive which is bus powered and USB 2.0/3.0 compatable.

The drive works fine after formatting to NFTS on the HAF case USB 2.0 plug.
It will not run when I plug it into either of the 2 available 3.0 USB at the rear of the case.  I'm wondering if this is a driver issue, and what I would need to do for the fix. Performing a mirror copy of my 450G of data on the c drive takes about 10 hours with USB 2.0.

The 3.0 USB plugs on the case work and have power becasue I can use them for keyboard, mouse, etc.

I'm running windows 7

Thanks,

Becks

You have a 5400rpm hdd, that is very slow, even on usb 3 it would take a long time to do things.

as to why its not recognized I'm not sure, it maybe drivers for the external.

Hi Becks... Not sure about your mobo, but you might try going to BIOS , advanced screen and see if the NEC USB 3.0 controller is Enabled.   When I looked it up it appears, not sure, that the rear USB 3.0 ports are NEC controller.

Check your mobo manual for  procedures.
