I'll keep it simple. I've purchased a DigitalStorm machine years ago and the only item I've had to replace within the almost 7 years of owning this gorgeous machine has been the 3D card. DigitalStorm PCs to me are just fantastic, and I'm extremely looking forward to making another purchase and showing off my upcoming beast.

However, like all things, it's time for an upgrade!

Now, my budget is exorbitant, I'll be spending 5 figures on this build; and I'll leave it at that and your mind to run. I don't mind contacting DS directly if an item not listed on their build config app is above and beyond quality wise; and seeing the item shipped directly to the factory for installation. I'm only looking to upgrade my tower, I have no need for a new mouse, keyboard, etc. My screens are 1440p as well, I'm still on the fence with 4K as I do love my 140mhz+ screens with 1ms refreshrate.

My expectations and usage for this build are the same as my last, a top tier PC that I'll be able to have for 7+ years without having to worry about much. This PC will be used for gaming, streaming, and rendering. I do quite enjoy my PC to be as silent as possible (Don't we all!).

I'd overall prefer Intel, just as it's what I'm used to using.

I'd prefer two M.2 SSD, one for windows and apps (probably 1TB), a second M.2 SSD for gaming (2TB), and a third HDD drive for storage and such (6TB+)

Go nuts.

You can always add more hdd for storage, internal or external.

Make sure to ask DS to connect all fans to mobo/controler so you can control them all, that way you can control noise.

Was your last pc lced on both cpu and gpu? this one is and you should be ready to work on it if needed.

You can go hard-line LC if you like instead, looks better but harder to work on so I leave that up to you.

Rendering has use for more cores and gaming only needs 4 cores, I gave you the most expensive cpu which is geared more toward rendering. One could argue you can oc all the cores but that could endup with either low oc or high vcore, One can also argue that 2 of those 18 cores will turbo to 4.4GHz and that should take care of gaming, but problem is we don't have the benches on it yet. So something for you to think about.

I’ll definitely be telling them to connect all my fans to the controller, good thinking!

I did decide to go with the build below after reading recent information regarding the 8700k and the 7980xe. Made the order earlier, just have to chat with the over the phone tomorrow; quite looking forward to it as my old PC just sh*t out on me today!

You dont need that 1200w psu

Don't do stage 2 oc it will have a high vcore.

For rendering 16 core smokes 6 core but its up to you.

Don't oc the gpu.

You don't need noise reduction and you have a fan controller so you will be adjusting your own fans, with high oc you cant keep the fans on low anyways.

Hope that helps good luck

The PC I previously was using a 3960x, so same core count, just a straight upgrade; it handled the rendering I was doing for YouTube videos + on the fly encoding for Twitch atreaming through OBS with no issues.

I might go stage 1 CPU oc, and ditch the gpu oc. Was basically in a rush to order today as my old PC PSU and mobo are done and I am PC’less at the moment.

Sucks to be without your pc, sorry to hear about that.

If 6 cores are all you want then 8700k is the way to go.

Oc the cpu yourself its easy, you will endup with better overall oc. Start by raising the multiplier only at first, when you get to the point where pc crashes then raise the vcore till it doesn't, or you can raise vcore first then slowly raise multiplier. What we want is the highest multiplier with lowest vcore, the lower vcore the better, vcore takes priority, stay below 1.4 vcore, the lower the better. Start with 1.26 vcore and see what multiplier it will hold, go up slow one or 2 tick at a time.

Remember higher oc means fans on high makes noise package null

Also Try to trap noise and you will trap heat, which you don't want.

Lmao, is it larger than the old BlackOps Hailstorm? That was my first purchase from DS, and it was MASSIVE.

Asked them to connect all fans to the controller/mobo as dst suggested.
Junked P2 cpu oc for P1, junked Gpu oc, and got rid of the sound suppression option.

I had to submit an extra form due to shipping discrepancies, however everything seems fine upon submission, according to the lady I spoke with over the phone.

I’d hope to see an update tomorrow on the account page regarding my build; looking forward to my second DIgitalstorm pc arriving with “hopefully” no issues the same as the first did almost 6 years ago!

I think that you're probably overspending if you're goal is 7+ years of relevance. Intel will be moving to the 10nm architecture next year; I would go with the latest 14nm architecture (8700K+), if you're main interest is gaming. Rendering might benefit from Threadripper, but others can comment on that. Rather than spending so much money on SSDs and the HydroLux PRO cooling, I would just go with a SSD boot-drive, 2x SLI 1080 Ti's, and a Velox with an AIO cooler.

My last pc lasted 6.5, before sh*tting out a few days ago. The only upgrade I had given it was a new 3D card in the time I’ve had it, no issues running most AAA games at high/ultra with mostly ~60-80 fps, sometimes shadows low.

I’m definitely overspending, for sure, as that’s what you get with any prebuilt pc rather than building it yourself. It’s more of a treat for the time being due to business, etc.

As you mentioned the 8700k, I did end up going with that (the finished build isn’t in the first post). I decided to pass on the amd wallerripper for now, as I’ve always had little to no issues with Intel products (surprisingly).

I’m curious how the hardline cooling will survive the trip to Canada, heh.

Most builds survive the shipping with no problems.   That said, the hardline doesn’t have any flexibility and any jolts above the normal might cause issues the flex lines wouldn’t see.   Also, hardline looks great but is harder to work on.    A simple task of removing or reseating ram or a graphics card could mean draining the loop.

Just a heads up.

That's a very good lifetime for a gaming PC. I recently ordered a 8700K+ DS PC with 2x 1080 Ti's to replace my 8+ year old PC from another vendor; however, I have not been able to run "ultra" settings on my current PC for several years. I am looking forward to the upgrade! At $11K+, I hope that you're at least being reimbursed by someone; you might be surprised what some Fortune 100 companies agree to.

I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with the purchase, the reason I’m going with DS again is that the quality of the product I received was astounding out of the box, I had no issues whatsoever.

Reimbursed? I wish. It’s no real consequence at the moment however, work and Bitcoin have had me smooth sailing for quite a long while ;)

Apparently waterblocks are on backorder; my build has been delayed a week according to customer service. I sent an email asking what the delay with my build was, no response for threeworking days, decided to call and got an answer within ~15 min. Disappointed, but it’s not deterring me from looking forward to my new beast.

True enough, received an email and call this morning from another rep letting me know it’s not a one week delay, but a two week delay. I was hoping to have my system before the snow started to unload where I live, haha.
