Though it maynot be classified as a "Shooter" Movie I think "Wanted" had some great shooting scenes.Ironically (Same Actress) "Mr and Mrs Smith" had a great scene as well.

Heat and Leon the Professional are two that sit well in my memory. Also the first Die Hard movie, and the first predator. Aliens 2 has lots of shooting.

I'm going to go ahead and add the new Dredd movie to the list, although I don't think it is the best shooter of all time, it is definitely one of the bloodiest and most graphic, I thought it was pretty cool.

The most emotional shoot out movie has to be "In the Line of Duty". This is a recreation of the 1986 FBI shoot out in Miami. Very emotional because you know that the movie is true to life with two FBI agents killed and 5 wounded.

While certainly not the best, by any stretch of the imagination, and in the spirit of the Stuntman movies of the 70s, you gotta spend some time with Mean Guns.

As a shooter, it's great. As a movie, well...

As a big movie fan, more old movies than new movies, I am not sure what you mean by shooter movies.

You mention Usual Suspects. I would call that neo noir

Now as you mention shooter, I suggest the movie "Shooter". Unrealistic sniper action movie. I find it very entertaining.

Goto the 80s for a lot of gunplay and explosions, but movies are often silly. I love Commando SO much, realizing how stupid it is, but fun. Cobra with Stallone is a great 80s type action movie

My favorite cop/action movie is Dirty Harry. It's a masterpiece on so many levels. Especially the lovely San Francisco photography and score by the legendary Lalo Shifrin.

If you like noir with some shooting, perhaps try Blood Simple, a Cohen brothers movie. Cohen brothers are really interesting

You must see the movie Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It's not optional for fans of so called "gritty" crime dramas, but it's also sort of a dark comedy. Not to be missed. Snatch, I think also a Guy Ritchie movie is almost as good

Hot Fuzz is a must see. I laugh so hard during it, I have tears coming down, yet it's quite violent.

If you like the noir elements of a movie, like are very present in Usual Suspects I have to recommend Jackie Brown. Pam Grier turns in a great performance ( she was a big star in the era of blaxploitation movies.) There's definitely guns, but it's more about the complex plot.

I'd agree with The Usual Suspects as neo-noir rather than "shooter." It's also one of my favorite films of all time.

I'd agree with a lot of other recommendations in this thread, including Shooter.

A really nice recent one is John Wick.  Some realistic gunplay in there.  Keanu does a lot of shooting using both his hands, though a lot of single-hand shots as well.

Here are a few of my favorite "shoot out movies".   Cool

Last Man Standing - might be my favorite shooter of all time.

Gangster Squad - All the Bourne Identity movies - Savages - The Boondock Saints I & II - and this one that is just fun to watch, Bangkok Dangerous
Performance matters. Non-Performance is not an option.

Kind of surprised to not see this one mentioned, but I would have to mention Equilibrium. It was a lower budget, lower profile movie, but it treated gunplay as a martial art (Gun Kata). There are a bunch of really crazy shootout scenes in the movie that while not realistic, are pretty cool.

How about hell or high water? There was some pretty good gun play in that movie when they were robbing the banks, but the best part was at the end when they had the brother surrounded in the hills mountain top area. He got him with a nice kill shot from a distance, didn't even see it coming.

If you can count District 9 as a shooter movie, that's my pick. I remember the hype before it came out. Sure the movie is about aliens and apocalyptic events, but i dig the whole plot of aliens being underdogs in the human society and the whole action scenes
