Budget:
$3000 Expectations: This will be my first DS machine but not my first gaming rig. Current setup is from Doghouse Systems bought in 2011 (intel i7 2600k (sandy bridge), nvidia GTX570, 8GB DDR-3) and it is finally struggling to run the games I want to play. When I turn my computer on it literally takes 10+ mins for it to completely boot up. I am interested in switching to Digital Storm because I am impressed with the fan base here on the forums and they are just a few towns over from me which will make it convenient if I need to drop it off for service or future upgrades. I want something that boots fast, will run the games I want to play without a hitch and will continue to do so for as long as possible. Usage: This system will be used for gaming, maybe acting as a local server so my kids and I can play Minecraft together, serving up movies to my AppleTV using iTunes, also interested in seeing if I can get Plex working as well, storing photos and creating some home movies from photos and iPhone videos Some of my fav games: World of Warcraft, Mass Effect series, Assassings Creed series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell series, Witcher 3, Borderlands 2, anything with a sniper in it :) Games I want to play but they wont run: Life Is Strange, Watch_Dogs, Sniper Elite 4. Darksiders (will run but cut scenes stutter), Planet Nomads (will run but only at lowest possible settings). Current montior is a Dell Ultra-sharp U2713HM, 2048 x 1152. What are your thoughts on the configuration below? I dont mind spending more to maximse longevity. Since we are so close to the release of Coffee Lake, should I wait a few days to order so I can get the updated CPU? Ok well first I bet with a gpu upgrade and couple of other miner upgrades you can run the games you want on your current system.
having said that, for server I would go 6 core and more ram (tho I'm not sure what kinda of power Minecraft server needs and if that is overkill). For gaming a good quad core will do like the 7700k. Assuming the 7700k will let you be a server with no issues, I would change these in your build: Here you go Ticket# 1752827 --- $3,191.00 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Edited by DST4ME - 01 Oct 2017 at 7:28pm |

I would not pay for the Boost OS. Your machine will come with no bloatware at all.

Well my build was assuming the 7700K was enough for minecraft server, otherwise it would be a 6 core build.
also my build I gave you an m.2 drive for os for fast speeds but it is not a necessity so you can go with a sata samsung ssd and price will drop. I gave you 32gb ram for server and other media creation but I'm not sure how heavy those are, so lets say no server/plex/light media you can go with 16gb so long story short: $2,883 Click Image To Go To Configuration Page I was gonna drop the 32gb ram to 16GB but it was only $78 so its upto you. Sorry forgot to mention, OCing this cpu is very simple, just look at a couple of videos where you only and slowly raise the multiplier for now, that is all you need, you can get a good oc out of it with better vcore than you can get here, so I left that off, but oc the cpu for sure if you need help come here someone will help you.

Ok, so I have secured funding!! Yea!!
I also noticed some product line changes so I fiddled around with my build at bit. I don't mean to waste anyone's time but this is a significant purchase for me and I just want to double check this looks good to the experts before I pull the trigger. New conf# 1761708 Thanks for holding my hand, guys! :) |

Excellent build.
I have nothing other than to mention the Velox case has a right facing window vs the more typical left window. Not sure your desk setup matters. |

I rather you research hdd2 and pick a better storage drive, I also prefer the h115i, otherwise you are good.
Double check with DS and see what if any of the fans will be connected to the controller. Plus what bp said Edited by DST4ME - 22 Oct 2017 at 8:40pm |

The cooling performance difference between the H110i and H115i isn’t much, but the H115i is the newer version with supposedly better rad and fans. Might as well get the better of the two.

Great buid Not sure you have any use for the Thermal Management Control Board & Software as there are no fans connected to it, and for accurate temps we recommend free software anyways. Edited by DST4ME - 27 Oct 2017 at 10:11pm |

Hey, DST4ME - thanks for the info on the Thermal Control unit. Digital Storm folks concurred it was not needed for my system and removed it from the build. You just saved me $99! :) Thanks!! |

Picked up my system from the nice folks at Digital Storm the other day. LOVE IT!! It is sooo freaking fast! Also it is giant :)
I was installing some of the recommended software. One is the temp monitor. Is there any reason to be concerned that one is these is much higher then the others? All of them are between 75F and 95F but one line: TMPIN4 is 132F https://ibb.co/hqxmNm Edited by Netgyrl - 20 Nov 2017 at 3:05pm |

We always look to C, not F... But if you're going to look at F, everything under 175 is good. Congrats on the machine!!! |
