Well I did it.

I bought a Dell. This new monitor won't get here until middle of April. I'm sure not the only one that is getting the beast Dell UltraSharp U3014. Hope this is a winner.

Thanks all! I have played way to many games today. Damn this is nice.
Ive been playing with VRAM and I don't know how much difference it makes but there is no stutter and it is smooth. The Elder Scrolls just looks incredible.

So much so I'm considering selling my new (30 days out of the box) Asus PB278Q monitor and picking up the Dell 3014U. Of course, I will have to use tact and guile as to not have my wife kill me. Hmmm, maybe I'll wait til Christmas. Smile

I just couldn't stand it.  I checked Dell today and a U3014 with 5 year warranty was only $1299.  They had a $250.00 off sale, so I bought one.

Just be careful with that monitor as it seems to have some early teething pains (although hopefully yours is beyond the initial batch). Scroll to the bottom of this thread for more info:

Getting an exchange now will result in you getting a monitor with the same issue. As I said, this will take us several weeks to find root cause. Then we will have to discuss possible fixes. Then a fix has to be put into place. That is why I cannot provide an ETA on a fix. Returning the monitor is your option but do it quickly. I think you only have 21 or 30 days from the invoice date to do this.

FYI, not trying to rain on anyone's parade as I have had the U3011 for the last 3 years and love it. So when I heard of the new one, I was very interested (and still am, just want to make sure it is fully vetted before I upgrade).

I looked closely, and I can not see any scan lines either vertical or horizonal.  I have looked at it in high contrast black and high contrast white and see no stuck pixels.  I am happy, I guess I got a good one.


As far as gaming, I do not play FPS games, but highly detailed strategy games and RPGs. Neither type will really stress this monitor, so I really can not say.
