Hello,
So I had a whole post written out and then tried to post a link to the build and it erased it, so boo to the newbie. Let's try this again. After 10+ years of gaming on non-gaming systems and the like, I've decided to finally commit to buying a gaming PC. The catch is that I'm on a tight budget of about $1400, and some of that budget needs to be allocated to a monitor since I don't currently own one. Obviously I want the PC to run games smoothly. Currently I play games such as Star Conflict, WOW, SW:TOR, Diablo 3, and several others on Steam. I want to know I can run these, as well as newer games in high settings without issue. (I'm tired of going into a game and first switching everything to low and very low). The PC also needs to be upgradable. Since I can't get the best video card now, I can upgrade down the line. So usage will be primarily games, internet, playing movies and music. The build I have been kicking around is as follows (Note I do have a gaming keyboard and gaming mouse) Thanks in advance! Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Digital Storm VANQUISH 5 (Black Edition) Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 6500 3.2GHz (Codename Skylake) (Quad Core) (Not Overclockable) Motherboard: ASUS/GIGABYTE (Intel H110 Chipset) System Memory: 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Power Supply: 500W EVGA/Corsair Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) (Internal) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (240GB Digital Storm Performance Series) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (1TB Seagate / Toshiba) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: Wireless PCI-E ASUS PCE-AC56 (Supports 802.11ac) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: High Performance Cooler with Large Fan and Copper Pipes HydroLux Tubing Style: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled LED Lighting System (Multiple color options and lighting effects) Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Standard Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Automatic Overclocking Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Factory Reset Feature (Restore Windows + Drivers) (Partition up to 50GB of Storage) Virus Protection: FREE: McAfee AntiVirus Plus (1 Year Service Activation Card) (Not Pre-installed) ($35 Value) Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: Asus 23.8 inch VN248H-P (Slim Bezel) (IPS Display) (1920x1080) Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks
Mouse: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 15-20 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) Edited by BrewChem - 03 Jan 2017 at 7:53am |

Hi BrewChem....Welcome to the forums.
Yes, that Vanquish with its gtx 1060 will play most games on your 1920x1080 monitor at high to max gaming. Some heavier hitters will struggle a bit on higher settings, but the 1060 is a good card. Here's a link to compare that card to various games, resolutions, etc to get an idea. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1771?vs=1731 The only concern is the 500 watt psu in that level Vanquish. If cards continue to drop in wattage needed, then no problem. A 600 watt, imho, would be a better bet, just in case for future video cards. Some recommend a 600 watt for the gtx 1070 and others are running it on a 500 watt. So, its a toss up. Hope this helps. |
