Good evening Digital Storm community!
I loved my first DS build so much that I've recommended it to everyone, but I feel like I'm out of the loop with current specs. I picked this in the configurator: https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1543040 Would these all be compatible and ready out of the box? I have never chosen the custom CPU cooling nor the lighting options and I am looking for a very smooth box-to-desk process. Thanks in advance! ~Manny |

It's quite a beast system you built there. A few tweaks I'd do. Of course these are personal opinion as everything you have will work as is.
You've picked the ASUS Rampage V Edition 10. Very high in board. One, I'm looking at getting myself here very soon. But you're only using a single SSD which is a sata based SSD, and a single card. Any reason you're wanting that high of an end motherboard? Next is your GPU. It's an ok GTX 1080... but honestly, it's kind of a crappier blower style GTX 1080. I'd swap it out for say the EVGA FTW GTX 1080 or an EVGA SC. But either way, your performance isn't going to suffer or benefit by some huge amount either way. Next is your cooling. I'm guessing you're going to overclock that CPU yourself? You're paying for a custom loop, but only for your CPU. If you're going to go custom, and not overclock it (unless you're doing it yourself), why not throw your GPU under the loop also. If not, then just get an AIO, such as the Corsair H100i which will keep your CPU nice and cool. Just a few of the things I noticed. Keep in mind, your system will run amazing as is, as it is a good enthusiast build. I'm just trying to justify some of the money you're spending... because let's be honest. When you're spending $4,000 on a computer, let's get it as close to perfect as possible. |

I appreciate the quick reply!!!
I'm perfectly fine with moving the GPU to the EVGA model - anything in the spirit of better temps. As for Overclocking, to be honest I wanted to try it myself but I'm a little bit shy about it, so I may tack on the option for the DS folks to do it. Lastly, the real answer is future-proofing. I already have a 6tb HD with all my stuff on it that I'll just migrate, so I want a small SSD for my OS and that's about it. I wanna make sure I get it right! |

What's the rig being used for and what resolution monitor ?
If it's strictly a gaming rig then the Z170 with 6700k CPU is better, but nothing wrong with your pick. Also, if just gaming, 16gb is all you will use. Your build looks good as is, any changes suggested is to save a few bucks. |
