Can I overclock?

So i have a vanquish 5 on order right now. I asked that DS didn't overclock the system but now i'm wondering. The system is a vanquish 5 level 2 with a intel core i7 and a gtx 1060.
I was always skeptical of overclocking as i'm just on a laptop that is now just too old. Basically im asking if overclocking is worth it or not on the new system

If you ordered the level 2 with default i7-6700 then it's not overclockable.   Only the "k" processors such as the 6700K can be overclocked.   

I think overclocking is worth it, but it's not the difference it was a few years ago, with multi core enhancement on all four cores if set as such. Overclocking will still get you a higher clock speed and a few percentage difference game or app dependent.

Just checked... you ordered the 6700, non K, CPU, so no overclock, which isn't a huge deal.

Awesome thanks for the info what about the graphics card the gtx 1060? Good information when i'll be upgrading but that wont be for years after I get this machine.

The gtx 1060 is overclock-able and some testers have seem a 10-15% boost in gaming.    DS would do a modest overclock and you'd have to ask them what to expect.  If you did it yourself, I'd advise reading some guides or watching a U tube video on how they did it.  

I personally am not big on oc'ing a video card unless you really need the performance or are just an enthusiast that likes to see what's possible. 

I would enjoy what you have and upgrade when needed.   Just me.  Big%20Smile

agreed thats why i have stayed away from oc'ing because what i had was able to play what i got with no problems until now on a few games. thanks bprat
