What are, if any, the differences between the Ultra and Extreme cases. Its easy to see the shapes and paint job but are there others, examples, dirve holders, cooling flow number of drives.
The reason I'm asking is that there is almost a $300 dollar difference and if it's just a pretty face I'd rather spend in on upgrading the Extreme PSU, hard Drives and Liquid CPU cooling.

They're not the same !!! The Ultra case is a CM Stacker 380 case, i believe and the Extreme is the Siverstone TJ-09 case.

He's right...
The Ultra is a black or silver CM Stacker 830 and the Extreme is the Silverstone TJ-09 |

Check out this review of the TJ09.... Impressive. I liked the line about the box it comes in is tougher than a lot of other cases. http://www.barrys-rigs-n-reviews.com/reviews/2007/hardware/tj09/tj09_1.htm Edited by Bill the Cat - 31 Aug 2007 at 1:15am |

I agree The TJ-09 is one cool looking case. DS really know their stuffs and they must subscribe to MaximumPC too . If i remember correctly, I think they send 2 pcs to MaximumPC for reviews in the past.

If you like just a plain case that looks good and does the job for less, go with the PRO. It is really a nice case and it is not flashy. I am an old timer when it comes to cases.

I originally ordered a PRO case, but apparently the PRO can't handle 8800 GTS/GTX cards without "hacking" up the case; moving drive bays that are in the way, or something like that. So I switched to the TJ09. It's a substantial cost increase, but I like cases that are big enough so that each of the components inside feels lonely.
UPDATE:
"Hacking up" may have some unintended negative connotations. Please substitute "skillfully modifying". Edited by Bill the Cat - 31 Aug 2007 at 8:08pm |

I have the 8800 GTX in my PRO case. They did not hack it as far as I can tell. I wonder if they had to move bays? Any help on this DS?

The Pro case DS using right now is the Silverstone TJ-04, i think, and the specs are : W=8.5 in, D= 18.5 in and H= 17.6 in. It might be a little tight to fit the Nvidia 8800GTX but i don't know. Originally when i order my pc a few days ago, i choose the Pro case with the Nvidia 8800GTS and Alex never said it wouldn't fit, but i decided to go to the bigger case since i am planning to add more HDDs later on.
