Topic: Debating between Vanquish3 vs. Configuration Posted: 17 May 2015 at 1:50pm |
Budget:
Around the ballpark of $2,000 Expectations: Solid Graphics on the dollar, with either ability to upgrade myself or 'future-proof' for a few years. Last computer served me well for 6+ years. Usage: Sole computer for games of every sort as well as general web surfing and doodlin'. Special Needs: Quiet would be nice, but not necessary. Area tends to be cluttered/dusty, and don't want dust to wreck the system. I don't really know much about building a computer from scratch, so I was wondering if the Vanquish3 would suit my needs vs. configuring one. I could probably figure out how to add RAM or a newer graphics card myself (with the aid of the internet and lots of caution) but I need a good place to start first. Thus, I ask 'should I settle for the Vanquish3<Lv.4> or is there a configuration out there for me?' |

Hi TheOutlander... Welcome to the forums.
Whether you get the Vanquish level 4 or spend a several hundred more for a custom build depends on if you have your eyes on a particular SSD , power supply, video card, etc. Custom like an Apollo build does give you the option to pick a i7 instead of an i5 cpu, which for gaming isn't needed. The power supply in the Vanquish is very good but in a custom you could select an EVGA 750 watt for a more efficient and much longer warranty supply. If a particular motherboard has a feature like wifi you want, go custom. I could go on for every component, but in general, the Vanquish level 4 will give you the same gaming performance as a $2000 custom rig, but you get what you get, no changes as its pre built. Best bang for your buck is the Vanquish. Custom is more $ for a ton of choices. Hope this helps. |

Sorry, didn't realize I had people curious on what I opted for.
I went with the Vanquish3<Lv.4> after some came up that shrank my budget a bit, enough so that the second build I was leaning towards wasn't much of an option anymore. Either way, thanks for the help. |
