Digital Storm Unleashes BOLT 3
Advanced SFF with custom cooling & upgrade-friendly design

Fremont, Calif - Digital Storm is thrilled to unveil their most advanced small-form-factor PC to date, the new BOLT 3. This 3rd-generation SFF system is the peak of engineering and performance contained in a small footprint. Continuing with advances made on the previous BOLT, the BOLT 3 is constructed from brushed aluminum, equipped with an enthusiast level cooling system, and features an edge-to-edge glass side panel.

Unmatched performance was the main objective when designing the cooling solution for the BOLT 3. The air delivery and exhaust system is paired with a custom liquid-cooling solution that combines the pump, reservoir, and fluid level indicator into one compact unit. The cooling package is augmented with multiple perforated ventilation ports to keep any overclocked system running cool and quiet during long sessions of 4K gaming.

Most SFF machines face some form of upgrade trouble but not the Bolt 3. The graphics card is strategically placed away from other major components to allow for easier upgradability. Power cables and cooling tubes are kept away from key areas inside the case to allow for hassle-free upgrading and service. No time-consuming rewiring is required to swap out any internal components.

“The BOLT 3 is what we originally envisioned when we created the original BOLT system 2 years ago,” Said Harjit Chana, Chief Brand Officer. “Users looking for a SFF machine powered by the latest and greatest technology need look no further.”

Built with a side panel made entirely of glass, the BOLT 3 lets users view the unique internal design that shouldn’t be tucked away under a desk. The BOLT 3’s all aluminum construction provides a strong foundation that will stand up to normal wear and tear for years to come while being able to fit with any room decor.

The BOLT 3 is now available for customization at

LOLThat'll do it.  Hahaha

Steven....
Looks good. Awesome      How about a pic of the right side.     And, is the side glass perforated for the video card's fan?   We gotta know these things.  Big%20Smile

I especially like the conventional mobo mounting with window on the left.

Looks fantastic.  Been thinking of getting one of those for my son the next time we're ready to get him a PC.  Although he's sort of leaning towards a gaming laptop.

If they made a gaming laptop that was as light as an ultrabook and could run more than Minecraft I would buy ALL of them.

I just pre-ordered the Bolt II and got an email that I can be upgraded to the Bolt 3. But I have some reservations: if people could help me out with some of my questions.

1. I don't know how heavy the Bolt II was, but the glass and added size on the Bolt 3 looks like it will make it a lot heavier.

2. It's a lot bigger in every direction.

3. The Bolt II could be put on its side and used as a Steam Box and it doesn't seem like the Bolt 3 will be able to accomplish that with the same grace.

4. I can't tell, but it looks like there's a huge gap between the glass and the case (I'm assuming for air intake).

5. I can't tell what's going on in the back with the inset area by the GPU ports and power supply.

6. There looks like there's extra space and case slotting for a second graphics card, but no option for it in the buy screen.

The old model always goes away after their stock is used up.

The Volt III is a great size and very powerful for LAN Parties. Only thing missing is a handle. But, who wants to lug around a computer in the trunk of a car with a glass panel?

My question is what are the chances of the glass breaking during shipping since the side panel is real glass

I don't want to be negative but a glass side panel is just a strange choice for a compact computer. Or any computer for that matter.

I have to side with Frank on this one, it seems like an odd choice for the Bolt, but it seems like the Bolt's ideological purpose has changed from I, to II, to III, so maybe I'm just behind the times. Cool

It would be nice to be able to request one without the glass side and the ability to lay it horizontal like the older units.

The Lian-Li PC-05S case, which this is based on before DS custom touches, does have optional feet that mount on the right side panel for horizontal placement.   Can't say if this also has that option.

If we look at the first pic of the left side, those do look like the round feet that might do it.   But we'd want them on the other side.    Why block the view.  Big%20Smile   Also not sure if its possible with the water cooling option with the reservoir.

Hi Sevchenko,

I recommend going with the BOLT 3, it's better unit overall than the BOLT II. Here are my replies to your questions:

1. The BOLT 3 is actually lighter than the BOLT II because it's made of aluminum, I'll get you details on the weight of the BOLT 3 shortly including the glass.

2. The BOLT 3 is only bigger by a few inches:
   - Length = it's 1" longer
   - Width = it's 1.4" wider
   - Height = it's 1.9" taller

3. The BOLT 3 comes with round feet that can screwed into the right side panel which has no window, and that can allow you to lay it on its side.

4. The glass sits flush with the case, there is a small gap opening on the rear for air intake. It's nothing major.

5. You can still access the back easily, with the new design, it actually protects the rear from having anything bump and damage the connections to the motherboard, graphics card, etc...

6. The case has 4 PCI bay slots but you can only use one graphics card as the motherboard only has one PCI-E slot. The good thing is that if there was a future TITAN Z that takes three slots or even four, you have the space.

It looks like the DigitalStorm logo on the glass side is where the power supply sits. Is this correct? If so how is the cable routed back out? I think its time to replace my first gen bolt with the new bolt 3. :)

Yes it is, it's routed through the back of the PC, near the graphics card.

It is nice to see DS using the Swiftech H220-X coolers. Maybe they or the H240-X will be available for other cases.

If the build isn't too far along, call them on Monday to change the order.   Even an email tomorrow, also.
