Curious if this is a software installed on our system and worth the extra $49? Can we adjust it?
I am considering the Dreadnaught with a 3.50 ghz 3770k processor partnering with a 2x 670 SLI or is just having the intel turbo-boost good enough? With the Turbo-boost does it get higher than the rated 3.50 ghz? Edited by armoredsaint - 03 Apr 2013 at 9:01am |

TwisterBoost is not a program, but rather the title given to the process by which DS technicians overclock your CPU, GPU, etc. It comes with additional stability testing and tweaks that might not be included in standard overclocking service, but its still just a "standard" overclock. So you can change it, but you would need to be knowledgeable in overclocking.
I would highly recommend overclocking your CPU. If you are comfortable doing it yourself, then you can save the money. However, I would certainly pay for the service as an overclocked CPU will outperform a CPU with only Turbo-Boost enabled. |

That software is for the "Rampage" line of Asus motherboards. It can be downloaded from Asus, but it only supports that specific Republic of Gamers (ROG) setup.

Since the 3770k have Turbo Boost 2.0 from 3.5 to 3.9, and the Stage 1 Twister boost is a range from 4.0 to 4.4, was it worth it?
If they can only boost it .1 ghz, I think the extra $49 is a rip-off. JMHO. |

It's definitley not a rip off. Turbo Boost is a dynamic overclocking, meaning it only oc's when it feels the need and is incremental and the top frequency depends on how many cpu cores are active. If one core is used by an app, then the oc might hit it's max of 3.9Ghz. If all 4 cores are active it might only hit 3.6 Ghz. Not sure of the exact figures but its something like that.
Overclocking, as done by DS, is static overclocking, meaning all 4 cores at all times under stress are running at 4.4Ghz for example. There is a boost in performance with oc vs turbo Boost. The difference between 3.6 and 4.4 can be seen. Hope this helps. |

Yes, just to clarify, Intel's Turbo Boost to 3.9GHz, but, that's only a single core, not all four. Our overclocking service overclocks all of the cores.

Overclocking is superior to Turbo Boost in a multitude of ways, as mentioned above.

If I'm not mistaken, you just ordered on Sat. the 6th. Should be able to order, just call right away.
The oc stays at the cpu's base 3.5 until needed, then goes to whatever they give you when gaming, etc. Probably 4.3, 4.4 or so with stage 1. Not sure stage 2. |
