Topic: Digital storm velox stuck stage 1 Posted: 06 Dec 2017 at 2:22pm |
Hi everyone,
Im not entirely sure where to post this but Ive ordered a custom rig Digital Storm Velox last thursday (processed), and its already been almost a week and my order has been stucked at Stage 1 without any emails from digital storm regarding how my order is being taken care of. Is this normal that it could take a week without any notice or extra information from them or do i call the support at this point? Any help would be appreciated, thank you. |

This time of the year they get real busy, and what’s normal doesn’t usually apply. I would think you would have seen some movement in a week so call them for an update.

I agree with bprat22 on this one, I'd give them a call or contact them their "Request Help" option. My guess is that they are just loaded down for the holidays, but no harm in making sure things are proceeding as planned.

Congratulations on your order. The Velox is a nice case. We are very nosy here, so don't mind me asking what components you ordered so we can enjoy your purchase vicariously.

It's normal for orders to stay in Stage 1 for a while at this time of the year, however, the team is working hard on catching up. Our goal is to ship orders within the estimated ship timeframe we provide which is 15-20 business days upon processing your order.
If it's been 2+ weeks and you're still at Stage 1, please email me ([email protected]) with your order information and I'll be more than happy to take a deeper look why. |

It's been eleven days in stage one for me, but I've had a DS rig for seven years. I know what I'm going to get when the stars align, and I know it's absolutely worth the wait!

Katsberg, don't worry, it is going according to schedule.
I ordered my Apollo last year on 12/02/16 and it stayed at stage 1 for over a week but, then it started to pick up the pace. It was at my door on 12/23/16. |

That is a nice and strong system. DS will not set up your pc for failing. What some members refer to is that; the os already comes bloat free so no need to tweek, the cpu oc is better done by the user since it is relatively easy and the members can assist if needed, and that gpu is already very strong so why push it. No worries. Enjoy.

Ok thanks for the answers guys. So the cpu and gpu boost would be bad for longevity of my system? I mean i dont think i can get a refund back for removing the boost. So i guess ill just leave it at that and have the boost still.

Your turbo boost is fine
Your oc on gpu should be saved as a profile, if not save it then set gpu back to default. No boost on gpu /cpu is not bad at all. Boost with certain high settings can turn out to be trouble so we oc ourselves past turbo if needed. Os tweak was for Xp when we were dealing with 3gb of ram. If they didn't start your build yet, IDK why you couldn't change a few things and get your $. E-mail 'em @ digitalstorm.com. That's sales. Reference your order #. I've seen folks practically rebuild the whole thing at stage 4. They'll work with you.

Just hit stage 5 and im excited!
I left the stage 1 boost in cpu in there because i have no background regarding oc’ing and hope i learn from you masters someday. The gpu will also be overclocked, though i will use this as a profile only when need the desire oc. The os i forgot will also be tweaked as i can not get the money refunded at this point. (Is it bad if they tweak it?) or it wont affect me at all? Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help! |

You are going to regret the stage 1 oc, if it was not super easy we would not have recommended it. When you get it, go back to turbo boost, otherwise you will endup having to drop your oc due to cpu not being stable to hold oc in a year or so.
Os boost may or may not effect things you might use, that is the problem, we/you don't know what is disabled. Again depending on your use it may not effect you at all. Edited by DST4ME - 24 Dec 2017 at 11:24pm |

Thanks for the headsup
Im only going to use this for gaming/streaming heavy cpu intensive games (may be gta, pubg, list goes on) So i basically wasted the $49 for the stage 1 boost? Or would digitalstorm make sure that my system will be as stable at is can be? |

The stage 1 is pretty much auto oc which most times endup with high vcore which then leads to a cpu not being able to hold that oc anymore after a period of time.
The turbo boost on 8700k is very good, no need to oc past that. Your oc/pc being stable now has nothing to do with how it is a year from now. The stress/wear/heat/component quality is the deciding factor specially with oc. Remember your warranty with DS is 3 year labor 1 year warranty Edited by DST4ME - 25 Dec 2017 at 1:12am |

Ok im getting what you mean thanks
Although the cpu i got was 7820x not the 7700k. Ive contacted alex regarding the cpu boost and lets see what he replies on my email that i sent him. I also got the 4 yr labor and 2 yr warranty as part of the cyber monday deal that came with it. |

Not sure what you asked Alex, you should have gone with 8700k, it a better cpu, turbo boost and everything is different on 7820x. The x line runs hotter and is a bit if a mess.
I had 5 year warranty when my oc was no longer stable after 2 years, they told me to drop the oc and that unstable oc was not a reason to change cpu. Of course high vcore has degraded the cpu so it can no longer hold the oc, so no oc. have a look at this post Good choice on 2 year warranty Edited by DST4ME - 25 Dec 2017 at 1:39am |

Thats one thing that I really regret was not asking first before I bought my entire build. I literally just squeezed myself in the last minute to get the cyber monday deal and save up a few hundreds.
Youre right, I shouldve went to 8700k as when Im reading other topics, the 8700k seems to be on top when it comes to gaming/streaming. Next time I will just let you professionals do my build before buying. What I told alex was basically asking what he thinks about the stage 1 oc on my cpu and (i just recently found out that thr 7820x does run really hot) but i can not go back at this point and change the cpu as it will cost a lot to replace and rebuild. Since im basically stuck, what is your best suggestion for me? Just revert back the cpu oc on 7820x? Or keep the oc and then remove it after a year? |

Keep oc, but when you get the pc, oc it yourself so you have good settings that will keep going for years.
It is not that bad, on a positive side you got 8 cores lol |

Our pleasure, that is what we are here for.
When you get the pc comeback and we will show you how to oc, it has become very easy nowadays, used to be very complicated now I can teach your 12 year old cousin in 5 minutes. I could be wrong but 7820x should do 4.3ghz-4.5 across all cores, i got a family member the 7440x for that reason before 8700k cameout. The 7440x turbo is 4.5ghz across all cores. Honestly from 8700k and the X line forward, I'm beginning to see the need for manual oc go away fir gamers, and most other regular users. I mean 8 cores at 4.5ghz or even 4.3ghz on turbo boost alone, what else do you want unless you are pushing limits. Edited by DST4ME - 25 Dec 2017 at 2:07am |

Im not entirely sure how to answer about the 4.3-4.5 oc all cores because i dont really know. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Sorry for my little knowledge
All i know is that it says stage 1: oc up to 4.5ghz cpu for 7820x And when you say that this is gonna be one of those huge mountains.. does that mean it will be tough or would be good for me lol Edited by Katsberg - 25 Dec 2017 at 9:07am |

@kats, for gaming anything at 4.2ghz is great, so 4.3 or 4.5 would be good, im talking about turbo boost not ds oc, tho stage 1 might be turbo boost.
What i meant by the mountain comment is that this is one of those things that seem like a huge complicated deal before hand, but after you do it you will laugh at thinking it was so hard and complicated, because it is not. @hose, true |

Thanks to everyone for takig your time to help specially dst! Once i get the system, i will be back here for the help that i may need specially about the overclocking part lol. But if dst is right and stage 1 might be the turbo boost already itself, then id be pretty happy 😍 |
