Some pretty interesting things with DirectX 12 - especially for SLI.  Sounds like things will get a pretty big boost including use of multiple CPU cores.  There's even the potential for cross brand use (from what I've read):

DirectX 12 should give Mantle a run for it's money.
Performance should be comparable if not better in some instances.

Based on this I think directX 12 will be the winner for gaming PCs.

It sounds good, and it seems you may not have to replace your video card to get improvements. But time will tell
