I have been very curious about this... Any reason to install the packed-in AV?

I'm probably sticking to the Win default (is it Defender? Haven't used Windows in a while) when my machine arrives.

Thanks,

I just use Windows Defender. I don't see any reason to run application on top of application to do the same thing...

I've chosen "avast!" .... but everyone is different. That's why they make chocolate AND vanilla.

Thanks for the answers!

yeah, I'll stick to the Windows stuff. I also plan to use the PC mostly for gaming and leave the browsing to other devices.

I use Kaspersky because it always seems to work better.

I've been using the basic Avast with Defender's firewall protection  with no apparent problems

I have been using ESET NOD32 for years. Small footprint and works really well.

Although McAfee isn't the greatest anti-virus out there; I would recommend installing it over the Windows Defender anti-virus. It offers better real time protection, and a few extra features.

McAfee came with my computer from DS (not installed). I chose the McAfee enterprise edition at work (free for me).
Each year I look at the best ANti-virus programs and the list changes every year. You just can't switch programs every year. All the computers I run at home use Norton 360.
