Topic: Eclipse CPU cooler Posted: 10 Jul 2015 at 12:31pm |
Greetings,
First off, I wanted to say that I have been lurking in the forums since I discovered DS in January. I want to thank you guys for helping me to decide to pick DS for their quality and their customer service. I just ordered an Eclipse level 2 earlier this week. The reason for this post is because I am worried about the cpu cooling with the overclocked cpu. Because it comes with just the factory fan, I am worried that it will be able to "handle" the heat, but still have the cpu running pretty hot. Therefore, I decided that one of my first upgrades to the system will be to buy and install an upgraded cooler. Does anyone have any suggestions for a great cooler to go into the Eclipse case? I see that DS upgraded version is the Slip Stream 120 Slim PWM. But I can only find the fan online and not the version with the copper pipes. |

There are a couple options to consider.
First, there are many low-profile fan solutions out on the market. Check out this thread and others in the Small Form Factor section on the HardOCP forum. You can also look at a low profile 120mm All-In-One liquid cooler. This would be a single 120mm low profile rad (25-27mm thick, no thicker) and a low profile fan (15mm or less). Many other system builders use this approach for their cooling solutions in these types of SFF chassis.' |

Thanks for the reply. I will read that discussion. I found the Scythe SCBSK-2100 Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B CPU Cooler for LGA 1150 and it looks very similar if not the same as the upgraded version that DS uses.

Yeah, I guess that can work, too...it's a 58mm cooler. The limit for the CPU cooler height is 83mm.

Would the corsair H75 work? And this is going to be quieter and keep the cpu cooler than that copper pipe one? I didn't even think about liquid cooling in my SFF.

The H75 would work, but you would have to remove both fans and replace them with a slim fan.
