I want to watch blu-ray movies with a usb blu-ray drive. What is the best one to get?

Also, anyone know if 1440p and 2160p movies will be put on physical discs, and if so will it require a special kind of drive to play?

Hi funeralpyre88,

Here is an article with some good insight that might help you choose. The Samsung SE-506AB seems to be a popular choice.

UltraHD Blu-ray disks (2160p) come out later this year or the beginning of next. I am trying to find confirmation that BDXL players (with at least triple layer read, but many BDXL players will have quad layer read, too) will be capable of playing them. There will be no 1440p content that I know of.

I bought this one back in 2013

However, at the time it was almost $10 cheaper.  It works well, but requires 2 USB ports to fully power it, as I suspect most others do.
