Topic: Fan Calibration Posted: 24 Aug 2016 at 6:45pm |
I just got my new Bolt 3 and the calibration for the fans does not seem to work.
The port is set for COM3 and I am able to control the lighting. The fans; however, are another story. I select "Quiet Mode" and then try to move the sliders right to reduce the fan speed (and noise). The sliders don't appear to have any control over the fans and they run at full speed. Any ideas ? |

Bolt does not really have fans does it? are you referring to the hydrolux fans or the gpu fans?
IF its gpu it won't control it, what are your cpu and gpu temps? Edited by DST4ME - 24 Aug 2016 at 10:18pm |

I have a Hydrolux cooling and this is the second Bolt 3. The other one had fans for the radiator which could be controlled. This is the second Bolt 3 I have had my hands on this summer and the other one could have its fans controlled throught the controller software.

Under View our Support Guides, Alex posted a setup for their Control Software. Try that, and if it still doesn't work, go to Support at top of this page, log in and look for the software download and reinstall.
Try it with no externals plugged into USB, except keyboard, mouse. After that, call DS. A bad board the fans are plugged into has been known to be defective. |

Thanks.
I have tried that already including reinstalling the software but no luck. I was thinking whether the board is damaged in shipping. Other than that this machine is running great just loud fan noise at the moment. I have a support ticket open and just waiting to hear from DS when they get in. I think i am love with the GTX 1080 board (Water cooled). I played a couple of games that put my old rig with a 680 in high temp zones and with the current fans at full speed i never got above 40 degree Celsius. Of course this is summer and the house is 75 degrees. Later this fall when the heat is on, it will be a interesting to watch. |

That was what I was trying to find out, so it is the fans on the rad, since you are waiting for DS to contact you its best to move forward with them but if your temps are good then it maybe a connection to the wrong place on the mobo or psu that was a mistake. DS will walk you thru, please report back with what the problem was and how they fixed it so the next person can benefit and we would like to know also. Basically you want to check and make sure the mini-4 pin pwn is connected to the CPU_Fan connector of the motherboard and make sure "manual" fan control is chosen in the bios. While the mode is in "QUIET" have you tried moving both sliders left and right to see if that does anything? It should change the fan speeds, see image below:

Thanks for replying Alex.
I have seen the calibration instructions and that's how I discovered the software has no control on the speed of the fans. The temp control board's led is green and the two cables are plugged in. Are the fans the two cables on the bottom ? with the temp sensors going in at the top ? |

@austinous,
It appears something else is going on then, let's work via email on this as I need to share images and such with you and try to find a solution. Please send me an email "[email protected]" with your order information as well. |

Just an idea, if not then ok. |

Yes, definitely, but we need to figure out what the issue is first.
