I am finally back. I was supposed to have bought my new system a few months back, but ran into a few unexpected and costly financial issues that required more immediate attention. Whole house A/C unit died and that is not something you want to live without in Phoenix in the Summer, plus a medical issue. Anyway, those are taken care of and now I can get back to my preferred priorities (computers and gaming). The good news though is that since then the new Nvidia's have come out and it also gave me plenty of time to really pay attention to what I wanted and work through the configurator (a lot) and really fine tune what I am after.
Please let me know what you think of this build and also does anyone know if I ask DS to replace the two front fans on the Coridium with the Corsair LED Airflow Performance Edition (Red) fans, if they will? Planning to order tomorrow (or maybe later today) if no one sees any issues. Thanks! Budget: $3000(ish) Expectations: Play games (Fallout 4, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, No Man's Sky) on very high quality settings. Usage: High quality graphics for games (see list above) and virtualization. I have decided for the first time in 15 years not to dual boot, but just run Linux virtualized (hence the bump to 32 GBs of RAM). Special Needs: Prefer air cooling as liquid concerns me (hands shake a little so maintenance may cause a problem). I also live in a very dusty environment, so prefer a case that is less prone to dust (still plan on doing my due diligence and cleaning it every so often). 1. was res are you planing on playing those games. 2. put the cpu boost on stage 1. |

Thanks for the reply. I am currently running 1920x1080 and hadn't planned on changing anytime soon. I have a 27" monitor which suits me well for right now. I'll change the CPU boost now. Thanks again!

If you are staying at 1080p then you are good to go once you change the cpu boost to stage 1
I will however tell you that for that res 1080 is really overkill I would go with a 1070 or better yet 1060 if you like. Here is what I recommend for games at highest settings: 1080p = 1060 gtx, or 1070 if your money is really itching to get out of your pocket. 1440p = 1070 gtx is the best choice here IMHO, the 1060 will fall just short in many games with oc. 4k = here you are looking at titan lced and oced or sli 1080 gtx Edited by DST4ME - 14 Aug 2016 at 6:23pm |

That's good information - Thanks. Guess I was just on the latest and greatest bandwagon. Dropping it to a 1070 will save me about $200, plus give me room to grow if I decide to go 1440p and be a nice upgrade from the 770.

Just an update - Just placed my order! Thank you DST4ME for the advice on the config and also bpratt22 for his help a few months back when I initially planned to make my purchase. Since I saved some money on the 1080, I decided to add a 2nd HDD just for VMs into the mix and leave the 3TB drive just for games, apps and storage. Here is what I ended up with.

Congrats on the purchase! Let the torture of the wait begin. I still haven't figured out why F5 doesn't make things go faster.

I'll definitely get some pictures up this weekend sometime! I'll try to remember to eat, but wouldn't be surprised if I end up looking like this by the end of the weekend.

I eat healthy and exercise daily, but foresee a hit to my regimen in the near future! I'll just double up next week.

As promised, some pics of the new rig! I'll try and post a review up later after I have gotten everything transferred over.
Okay - No clue why they are sideways. I edited them to correct the orientation, but once uploaded, are on their side. Edited by Shakey - 11 Sep 2016 at 5:36pm |

Looks like someone corrected the orientation (thanks to whomever). Few small things to tweak, but the rig is a thing of beauty. Deus Ex is so pretty on it. Digital Storm just never fails to impress.
