Good Afternoon Everyone! I have read nothing but good things about Digital Storm computers and wow this community is a treasure trove of information!! I have not used a desktop in a while. I am currently using a Mac laptop for small business Photoshop/Indesign projects and free time gaming (MMPORGS - WOW, EQ, etc). They tend to overheat like crazy and slow down running multiple programs. Time for a real machine, however I'm still on a budget. I am looking to spend 1500-2000 including the monitor. Usage: Daily design work 2-3 hours. Weekend gaming - 4+ hours. I chose the 2nd tier Vanquish 5 and upgraded the Processor to 7700k, Graphics card to the 1070 and the RAM to 16gb. Im not too familiar with the display options, maybe someone could give me a good recommendation. Is there anything that would be worth upgrading while not breaking the bank? Thank you kindly to everyone for their input! This build comes in at $1922 before shipping. Hi ibuff2020... That Vanquish build looks good to me. The gtx 1070 for the 1080p monitor will play great. Good pick. The Vanquish is best bang for your buck.
I would suggest changing your secondary drive to the Western Digital Black. It is a smaller drive but you're getting a drive rated tops in reliability and a much longer warranty to go with it. That's all I have. |

Hey bprat22, thanks for the advice about the drive, better warranties are always worth the upgrade!
Looking at the different display options, is there a big difference between the IPS and the others? I read about IPS having issues with backlight bleed and IPS glow? I am not expert so have no idea if this is something to look out for and consider. Thanks again for the feedback! |

I've been using Dell Ultra Sharp IPS monitor for 6 years and have had zero issues.. IPS gives you excellent colors and saturation and an overall better picture over the TN. That said, there are good and not so good IPS monitors and TN has gotten very good over the years. I haven't delved into monitors in a few years, so can't recommend what to do. One of these days I will jump into all the offerings when I want to upgrade.
