Hey guys, these are my specs below
System Configuration: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Hailstorm II Edition Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 6900K 3.2GHz (8-Core) (Unlocked CPU) Motherboard: ASUS X99 RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 (Intel X99 Chipset) (Up to 4x PCI-E Devices) (RGB Lighting) System Memory: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX (Extreme-Performance) Power Supply: 1200W Corsair AX1200i (Digitally Controlled Power) Expansion Bay: Option Not Available Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 8x / CD-Writer 8x) (Internal) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (512GB Samsung 950 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance) Storage Set 2: 1x SSD (1TB Samsung 850 PRO) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 2x SLI Dual (GeForce GTX 1080 8GB (NVIDIA Founders Edition) (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: HydroLux PRO: Exotic Custom Cooling System (2x Graphics Cards + CPU) HydroLux Tubing Style: Flexible Tubing (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) HydroLux Fluid Color: Red Fluid (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Corsair Airflow Performance Edition (Up to 6 Fans) Internal Lighting: Digital Storm RGB LED Lighting System (Requires Thermal Management Control Board & Software) Airflow Control: Digital Storm Thermal Management Control Board & Software CPU Boost: Stage 2: Overclock CPU - Up to 4.8GHz (Depends on Cooling and Motherboard) Graphics Boost: Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability OS Boost: Yes, Disable and tweak all of the non-crucial services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-Bit Edition) I run this through a 1440p monitor and I'm getting very average performance in games. With a set up like this (around 8k before tax and shipping) I feel like I should be getting amazing framerates at 1440p. Using a game like grand theft auto for example on max settings... I'll get dips to 25-40 frames... While my buddy playing next to me on a single 1060 card will be getting 90-120. What could the problem be? |

Are you both using the same kind of monitor, same graphics detail settings?
I should also mention that no matter what kind of hardware you have, if its not a G-Sync monitor, high FPS games are going to run like crap at max settings because a 60 Hz 1440p monitor will not be able to refresh fast enough, and therefore will be a bottleneck. |

If your buddy is getting those frames, at max settings on a 1440p with a gtx 1060, then he has an exceptional card.
An $ 8k rig doesn't guarntee exceptional gaming if some of the components, like an 8 core CPU, high end motherboard and 32 gigs ram doesn't contribute to most gaming. 4 core CPU like the 6700k has been shown to perform on par or better than 6 and 8 core. That said, try your setup with other games to see if it's the rig or the game. Also check your CPU and gpu temps with HWMONITOR, just to eliminate any heat issues. You should be good with full water but never hurts to check. Use CPUZ to check that your CPU clock speed ramps up to 4200 MHz plus since gta can be both gpu and cpu heavy. If it doesn't, and my guess it will overclock, then set power management to 100% for minimum on CPU and check frames. If gta doesn't utilize sli very well, and I'm not sure, then try disabling sli in Nvidia control panel. A single gtx 1080 can dip into 40 fps when settings are maxed on a 1440 p screen in testing I've seen. |

The community has provided great suggestions.
Check your thermals as well with Hardware Monitor, make sure it's not thermal throttling. Contact our support team for help to see as well. |

Thanks for the replies guys.
1.) Its a 165hz gsync monitor, and we are using the same settings. 2.) I'll try CPUZ, 3.) he's getting better frames on everything for some reason. 4.) no heat issues whatsoever |

You do have your monitor plugged into the graphics card and not the on board graphics?

The x99 motherboards don't have integrated graphics. That would've been too easy.
If the heat is good, CPU is overclocking then check that nothing else is running in the background. Give DS a call. They do see it all. |

Have you went into your nvidia control panel to ensure SLI is enabled. Have you also made sure you have v-sync completely disabled in the control panel.
Might want to also try disabling SLI, then unplug the power from one GPU (don't need to remove it, just unplug it), and use the other one. Then do the reverse. Unplug the other card and replug in the original, and run a stability test again. See if maybe one of the cards is having issues. Could also possibly try swapping out the SLI bridge. I just gave GTA V a try on a 144hz G-Sync PG278Q monitor with dual GTX 1080's. Everything maxed out... 45 FPS never happened once, let a lone a dip as long as 25. Things like this are tough to trouble shoot. 50/50 it's software or hardware. Hard to say it's either or. |

"By NVIDIA’s own admittance, SLI performance at better than 1440p60 was subpar, as the SLI interface would get saturated" -article from Anandtech regarding the HB sli bridge links.
if you have a 1440p+ monitor with refresh rates above 60Hz, and are running 2+vid cards, you'll want one of these HB bridges. otherwise, stick with 1 card and see how your fps is. |

use a couple of programs to monitor: cpu/gpu/ram utilization and speed while running your game. it'll help find the bottleneck(s). make sure all drivers are up to date.
i like to use task manager and msi afterburner along with hwmonitor for temps. task manager gives me a neat breakdown of all things unrelated to gpu performance. once we get some feedback from you regarding these things we'll have better advice to give. |
