Hello!
New owner of a Vanquish 3 level 4 :). Not sure if this is the correct location to post this issue but here we go: First off: my computer specs: Processor: Intel Core i5 4690K 3.50 GHz(Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS/GIGABYTE (Intel Z97 Chipset) (SLI Ready) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series Power Supply: 750W Corsair CX750M Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (250GB Samsung 850 EVO) Storage Set 2: 1x (1TB Seagate (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) Graphics Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB (Includes PhysX) Got my pc yesterday and I'm loving it! Rig is a work of art. Downside is I'm having major issues with FPS in World of Warcraft. I'm constantly sitting at 10-15 FPS with good-high graphics settings in game in populated areas. I was expecting this PC to completely dominate Blizzard games on ultra settings since that's what I mostly play. Shouldn't this PC be able to run everything on ultra? I know WoW is a CPU intensive game, but my CPU usage never seems to be going above 13%. Any ideas what could be causing this FPS problem? Please let me know if more details are needed as I'm not incredibly tech-savy. Thank you in advance! |

Hi crash3d..... I have no experience with WOW, but I would reinstall the gtx 980 drivers in Control Panel, Device Manager, or go to Geforce.com and download and then install another driver.
Make sure your monitor is plugged into the gtx980 below rear fan and not the motherboard's integrated graphics where the USB and audio ports are. Tye card might have plastic caps over them. It does happen. Hope this helps. |

Yup, they are definitely plugged into the graphics card. I will reinstall the drivers to see if that fixes the issue. Will post back in a bit.

is it just in the hubs or all over the place? the hubs are going to be a lag fest. i've also heard that Pandaria is input laggy compared to the older zones. are you running a lot of memory-hogging add-ons? remove outdated add-ons. try disabling programs/apps that run in the comp's background while you play. you can also try turning off anti-aliasing and lowering some other settings. WoW looks like crap anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
as for your computer settings: try going into the control panel to power options and make sure you don't have any power saving settings enabled. you should be using the "performance" setting. i also seriously doubt that WoW is optimized for more than dual core. it's an old game. you aren't on windows 10 by any chance are you? i've been reading about Samsung 850 EVO slow downs in the new OS. might need to contact Samsung about a driver/firmware update. If you are using Geforce Experience to choose the settings for you, on Wow it chose 3840x2160 DSR and my FPS were terrible...so make sure its set to 1920 x 1080?

like i said, if you've got background programs running that cpu is going to be causing you to drop frames. you're probably also seeing stuttering even when fps is higher than 10-15 you mentioned. are you streaming by any chance?

Under Network make sure you do not have optimize network for speed enabled. It slows things down a huge amount and uses a ton of additional bandwidth which can cause additional lag.
Also make sure to back off Shadow Quality to High from Ultra as it also is a huge impact on FPS. Those might help. |

Your machine should crush WOW. Shouldn't have to tweak much to run the game. All have good advice here. It may well be server-side lag.
The game client only uses one core and can use 1 for addons and 1 for audio following patch 3.1 so it is still essentially a single core application. Mouse over the computer icon in the WOW interface. Is it yellow, green? How many frames are you getting? It should tell you. 40-60 should be normal given your hardware.. Get out of a populated area. Does it improve? How are you connected to the Internet? Cable? DSL? Any other issues with other games or just Wow? Are you playing on a server close to where you are (West/East Coast, etc.) ? Disable any addons you are using and make sure you aren't streaming, etc. Does it improve? Any difference? |

Ah the wow talk... Silly casuals *trolololol*
DSR never really dropped my fps when scaled up to 4k and back to 1080p. You say only in WoW, so in all the other games you're playing, your 980 is dominating? |

Also to note. WoW can use up to three cores, but is optimized to be used only by 2.

I don't play WOW anymore but I do remember many folks having issues due to Comcast or TW throttling their bandwidth. Also, search on bnet tech support for specific ports to open up for WOW in your router port forwarding settings.
I do still play D3 and the recent update today has caused a massive spike of players. At one point WOW, D3, SC, and Hearthstone were all running on the same server base. Not sure if that's the case anymore. I am on a solid 65/68 FIOS connection and I have very little issues in D3 maxed out. |

You seasonal? HC or not? I'm getting back into it this season. I was paragon 777 end of last season. Gotta get that 1k+ with some 65+ grifts. I play normal. |
