Topic: Gaming Crash Posted: 27 Jul 2017 at 11:29am |
I would like to be able to run Battlefield 1 and various games on good quality but recently I have been getting crashes when I play games. What is the best way to troubleshoot the settings to find out what happened and set it so that I can prevent the crash?

The first thing to check is temps. Run HWMONITOR, free download, and play games, and watch the gtx 1080 gpu and 6700k CPU temps. Under load the temps should stay in the 80's centigrade or less. If they go higher then you have a cooling issue that can crash the rig.
Are all your fans running ? Have you cleaned the interior of the radiator with canned air for dust buildup? If the temps are fine, is it just the one game or any game ? Sometimes reseating the graphics card and ram modules will help. By crashes, do you mean the game stops or the computer shuts down ? Edited by bprat22 - 27 Jul 2017 at 11:45am |

Thanks for the reply!
The computer resets and it is for a couple of games. How do you reset the card and ram modules? Also where can i monitor the temperature? Edited by xBrutalist - 27 Jul 2017 at 12:03pm |

To reseat the ram, pc off, push the end tabs to release each ram stick, slide out and then slide back in until they lock
Reseating the video card is unscrewing the rear screw where the video card mounts to the rear. Then push the release tab on the front of the pcie slot the card plugs into. Pull out the card then push back in until it locks. You can monitor the temp by running HWMONITOR in another window while gaming and hit alt-tab on keyboard to jump between windows, or go to it after gaming and looking at the min max temps. Have to keep HWMONITOR running. |
