Budget:
$3,500

Build: 1454017

Expectations:
Able to handle 3x monitors. all 1920x1080. (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-cf591-series-27-led-curved-monitor-silver/5044701.p?id=bb5044701&skuId=5044701&lsft=ref:212,loc:1&ksid=27c76611-846a-4ddd-90a5-d716e72605ae&ksprof_id=8&ksaffcode=pg73&ksdevice=c&ref=212&loc=1)

SSD required, secondary HD probably only need 1TB

Usage:
Primarily Gaming, Blizzard titles mostly. light photo / video editing using PS. Frequent twitch streamer for the funs.

Special Needs:
Would prefer air cooled system, Fan of Noctua (no pun intended).
Case will be on floor, more than likely.

Anyone able to build something out based on the above? Can the single GTX 1080 handle 3x Monitor? What do I need to accommodate for 3x monitor, as I currently have 2 GTX 970.

TY DST4ME. Yes, the amount of Ram I have is for photos.

Will this system stay cool enough? Is it necessary to upgrade case fans on top?

Your temps mainly will have to do with your ambient temps, but yes your system should have good temps, your budget limits us a bit, I would like to go with the evga cards instead of the asus, you will have to add a 2nd hdd down the road.

TY again DST4ME. I really appreciate the help again. I am probably going to go with the most recent build, with the upgraded fans. Being over by less than $100 is fine with me.

That all said, anyone else have any input on the matter? Not that I don't trust the advice that DST4ME is giving, I just like having multiple opinions by the best custom pc rig community I know of.

Thank You again.

Would Alex or anyone be able to chime in on expedited build service? I see it's no longer an option on builds. Is that true, or can this service still be purchased?

The service is now on hold, as it was affecting our backlog of regular customers. We did not feel it would be fair for us to offer a priority service when we are trying to catch up with our backlog. We're trying to take care of any orders behind schedule first.

We should have the priority service back in 2-3 weeks.

Awesome I am truly sorry I did not know about this company before I ordered my last two systems.

That is a very nice air cooled system DST4ME configured for you. I would only add a longer warranty period and W Pro instead of Home. Just me.

Looks like I'll be ordering this week, given the 2-3 wait for priority to be back in place probably best I just order as soon as I can.

i used to run surround 1080p monitors on a GTX 590 playing mostly mmorpg, so i would think a single GTX 1080 would more than do the job at that resolution.  if you decide to go with a single card you can also reduce the size of the psu.  those two changes would save you a pretty penny.

more demanding games like: Witcher 3, Metro Last Light, Rise of theTomb Raider, Far Cry Primal., etc. will drop your fps down below desirable range.

here's a 1440p surround vid that tests single and sli 1080's in surround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SExxssqPXlw

Thank You db188. With me only really playing Blizzard titles, and no plans to play anything in a surround type fashion, a single 1080 might make more sense.

Might be a really stupid question, but how do I go about hooking up 3 monitors to a single 1080? Like I said, I'm completely out of touch, so if I don't need another card I don't want to just waste money on it. I just need to know what I need to accommodate 3x monitors if going with a single now.

Thank You again.

If you are gaming on one monitor and are not going to do surround and you are not going to be playing games like far cry and fallout and gta then ya one 1080 will do.

DVI-D, DisplayPort, DisplayPort, DisplayPort, HDMI

Depending on how you want your setup and your monitors you connect them to three of the 5 ports above.

Now listen if you happen to find out you do like to go surround and endup liking one or more kind of games we mentioned then don't get upset at us at that time. If you like you can drop the one 1080 but keep the psu so that way if you want to you can always add the second 1080 yourself if you need it. Just something to think about.

IF you give us the details about your monitors we can help you better as to which ports to connect to.

My Primary monitor, which will be set up in the middle can be found here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824022405&cm_re=LC27F591FDNXZA-_-24-022-405-_-Product

Two additional monitors will be flanking, one on each side. These can be found here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001414

I know they are nothing fancy, but I have them and they fit my current needs. If you can recommend how to connect them to the single 1080, that would be awesome. If I can save nearly $1k based on what I need right now I'd be a happy camper.

Typically, I game on the primary and will have browsers and/or obs twitch, voice coms open on the others.

I like the idea of keeping the psu for future if needed.

Well unless you want to get some adapters, you are limited.

Your side monitors only support hdmi and dvi, your main monitor supports d-sub, hdmi and dp.

So if right now you only have one, I would connect that to the dvi, but once you get the other two you would have to connect one side to the only hdmi on the card, the second side to the dvi on the card and move the main to a dp.

you then have to go to nvidia control panel and set them up in there.

I say if you think you may go surround or 4k with the games we mentioned then keep the psu and drop one gpu, but if you know you are not gonna go 4k or not gonna be using the types of games we mentioned then just go with a single gpu and a psu that supports that.

I was under the impression that you were gamin on 3 x 1080p for some reason, looking back I think the wording made the mis-connection if you will, otherwise I would not recommended a sli system for you.

Would these adapters work for the side monitors? https://www.amazon.com/SIENOC-Displayport-Female-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00ENH915G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1468889423&sr=8-3&keywords=video+port+adapter

Sounds like I will only need the 1 gpu, so I will go to that and keep the psu if I want to upgrade.

TY again everyone for your help.

If you want to go with adaptors, you don't need to, but if you want to then the ones you want are more like these here.

remember you have a female port on the card and monitor, so your cord needs to be male on both end.

if you can you should attempt to connect via display port-it has the most/fastest bandwidth.  if you connect via HDMI you'll only get 60Hz at most out of it.  dual link DVI (D or I) can do 120Hz, but it's an old tech and DP is preferable over it.

those links don't work for me btw, so i can't tell what monitors you have.

in that case i'd advise a monitor upgrade (with some of the money saved) with a single 1080.  that 1080 is on the new display port standard and will be capable of handling ultra wide 1440p monitors with native 120+Hz frequencies, not to mention 4k@120Hz when these new monitors start showing up early next year.

you can still use the old monitors as side monitors w/o needing to config them to surround or needing to conform to one input standard.  if you were going to try surround i'd definitely advise using the 3xdp ports on the card to your monitors.

His side monitors only support hdmi and dvi. To use db he would need to buy all new monitors since it makes no sense to upgrade the sides and not the main.

What is the point when its gonna be limited to hdmi and dvi on teh monitor's end at 60hz? that is the same thing I posted for him, dp to hdmi. I don't see the relevance with a 60Hz monitor.

actually i was advising to upgrade the main (gaming) monitor because it would be a shame to waste the potential of the 1080 on old 60Hz 1080p monitors (if that's what all of his monitors are).  again, i'm hindered by the fact that i can't personally see which monitors he currently has.

he can do like i'm currently doing and use the old 1080p monitors on extended desktop config in Nvidia control panel for web surfing, monitoring programs, etc.  i connect to my 1440p 144Hz monitor via DP and 1080p 120Hz monitor via dual link DVI-I.

i only ever used the triple 1080p monitor surround gaming with the 2xDVI-I connections.  i've heard eyefinity and surround can have problems with using different types of inputs, hence why i advised him (if he chose to ever try surround gaming) to use all the same input, and since he has 3xDP ports on the card he'd need to use the DVI or HDMI to DP adapter/converter.

Which is why I posted for him a dp to hdmi converter that can do 1.4. Keeping in mind that he does not do surround as he mentioned.

Lets see what he says about the monitor upgrade but he sounded like he is going with the current 3 monitors and is not interested in monitor upgrade at this time.

You are advising him on monitors I was giving you the correct info since you didn't check the info he posted.

I didn't say there was fault with our post other the fact that you didn't check his info and some of the stuff you are repeating I had already told him.

If I want to ignore your post I will, if not I won't.

I'm not even sure what it is that we don't agree on here.

Ok, ty for discussion.

As for a single monitor upgrade, I'm not opposed, if it's going to make a big difference in my experience. Any suggestions? I'd be looking for a 27 " or perhaps a bit bigger.

I would then keep 2 of my current monitors for use on the sides, but still would not be looking for surround.

Personally I would wait for the ips, 4k 144hz monitors coming out late this year or h1 of 2017.

But your budget for the monitor and your timing of course matters.

Newest Build:

https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1455918

Decided to go with the single GPU right now, just because I don't have the need for more given what I'll be doing on it. With the savings, I upgraded my primary HD to 512gb, fan upgrades, and Windows Pro.

Once I order, I'm still going to try and email to see if I can get that priority build for an additional cost. I know Alex said they aren't right now, but I figure it can't hurt to ask.
