So I got the Rig today. I am fighting every impulse I have to tear that box "carefully" open and lose track of the days but alas I have no desk.....
I will be updating this thread on Monday the 16th which is when I get the desk. I can't hold out much longer :( |

Here goes unpacking this behemoth was certainly an adventure, it seemed like the layer never end. Rest assured that nothing other than mother nature herself can touch your crown jewels inside that box.
As you can see all the precautions have been taken I was pleasantly surprised at the cable management in there. No tangle and no mess to deal with. Just made sure to re-seat and make sure everything is plugged in (Side Fan header was loose) . One note to make was my order listed an Intel 520 SSD but for some odd reason I got a Corsair Force GT. Also since I installed a Samsung SSD before even booting up my computer, it messed with the boot priority and I freaked out and called Tech support In any case, I had a chat with Robert and man o man I have never felt so much excitement and true care from anyone in the tech support industry until today. Resolved it myself but he was nice enough to issue a refund for the difference in cost between the two SSDs. Long story short he turned awesome into more awesomness!! The computer booted up nice and easy and there were no problems at all. When I previously said I wanted a quiet computer I thought to myself not too noisy. I'm calling this rig Silent Death because I can't hear anything at all. Windows Performance Index is 7.9 across the chart (not that anyone cares). Small issue with the BT GO (Bluetooth) feature on the P8P67 Deluxe Motherboard was that all the drivers weren't there. Nothing downloading the drivers from ASUS won't fix. Everything is up and running and people.... I couldn't be any happier with my choice. Hail to the great DIGITALSTORM A side note for those interested in temperatures and the works I'm not into all that but I did run some stress tests and benchmarks. Temps were stellar on the CPU cores idling at 32C and maxed at 58C. I'm using precision X which is EVGA's tuning (overclocking) software for the GTX 680 and that thing is beast. Idle temps are 30C and max at load was 73C with no decrease in performance. If you're thinking about DigitalStorm's competition stop right there. Trust me this is where you want your hard earned mula and attention to go. They will treat you right! |
