Hello all.
Looking to get into pc gaming and of course I need a pc. Thouggt I would look into ds and see how they are. Any suggestions? I will want ti be playing games like gta, rainbox six, battlegrounds, h1z1 etc. Also if you could suggest a monitor to go with it. Not sure if i will have 2 monitors or not though. Thanks |

For gaming, to get the best bang for your buck, what you want to do is find out the resolution you are going to be playing and then build a PC that can Max that resolution for you in gaming.
Your resolution is dependent on the native resolution of your monitor so start by choosing a monitor first. What is the budget for monitor? Do you have a preference for res, refresh rate? Keep in mind gaming on 2 monitors requires a more expensive pc than gaming on 1 monitor (depending on res) Edited by DST4ME - 17 Sep 2017 at 1:13pm |

Your budget dictates, you could get a 24" at 1080 or 30" at 1440p or 4k, the higher the res the better the picture is
Go here and look at the specs, look at Resolution, Panel Type, Viewing Angles and Refresh Rate, and then look at the rest. Edited by DST4ME - 17 Sep 2017 at 1:29pm |

The Vanquish level 3, Best, will give you an excellent gaming rig for your budget and a monitor at 1080p or 1440p. It's the best bang for the buck.

I haven't kept up with all the monitors over the years, but the Asus you listed is very good as are most Asus monitors. I have a Dell UltraSharp 24" from 6 years ago that still keeps me happy.
Another monitor for browsing shouldn't be an issue since it's not drawing gaming graphics, just browsing web sites. Dual gaming monitors is where the extra load on the graphics card can effect your frame rates. |

Yeah I have one of those two, and I agree that it is a solid display. Very high quality. Alas, with a 60hz refresh rate, after many years, I now find myself wanting something faster (and also a larger screen). I wanted to stay with an IPS panel though, since that's what my eyes are accustomed to. I have an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q on the way from Amazon. I'm really eager to see how good the Gsync is. |

Just switched from PG278QR to a PG279Q and the contrast is a bit better, IMO. I sit in front of the monitor in my system so side view advantage is not apparent. Had to change because the 278QR started getting some soft lines only visible when dealing with photogs. Cleaned the camera twice before thinking it could be the monitor.

I almost went with the PG279Q but decided to go ultra wide instead and got the Acer Z35P.

That is a good one also but native refresh is 100h and is a va panel.
Please review that here also, we need some new monitor reviews so we can recommend ones that owners here recommend |

I leave tomorrow to S. Korea, so it will have to wait about 6 months lol. Taking my old trusty DS laptop with me for it's 2nd deployment lol. The bit that I have been able to play on it, I absolutely love it. Been playing mostly Path of Exile with a little bit of BF1 thrown in. I will run it through a few more games once I get back. I will say it makes me want to sell my 2x 980ti's and get a single 1080ti lol. |

I have a feeling that for a lot of people the difference between a TN and IPS panel is something you'd only notice if you were switching from one to the other or comparing side by side.

Na the viewing angle and picture quality is noticeable right away, of course if you never owned an ips then you would not know the difference.
It comes down to what you like and willing to compromise Side by side will make never want anything but ips To each his own Edited by DST4ME - 19 Sep 2017 at 9:41pm |

That's kind of what I mean though. Like...if you've always been using a TN panel, and it doesn't bother you, getting another TN panel will probably be fine and you won't have issues. Likewise if you've always used IPS, and you're fine with the higher levels of backlight bleed and glow that's inherent in the tech then you'll likely be fine with another IPS. Personally, having used an IPS screen for so long, I want to stick with IPS. I switched to a Dell Ultrasharp from an old Gateway POS maybe...5...possibly more years ago. My preference is definitely for IPS. |

And speaking of new monitors...............my Amazon order status page confirms my Asus Swift should be here by tomorrow. I will not be refreshing my order page at work all day. Nope.
(OK yes I will) |

I don't have bleeds and glow on my ips, or at least I don't notice it. I cant be bothered to center myself in front of the screen tho
In a way you are correct but at the same time that is like saying if you have never owned a pc then not having a pc won't bother you. |

Well...there's console gamers..... Yeah, luckily the bleed on my Dell is almost nonexistent. Fingers crossed for the new screen. |
