How many devices are connected to your wireless router? Here is an article about some of the latest WiFi technologies to address many devices on a single router. A lot of MU-MIMO products were announced at CES, but few are on the market. You'd need both a router side and client side device to make use of it. Asus has it in their Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, Impact, and Formula motherboards. You could also take a MU-MIMO router that is reconfigurable as a network bridge and use one as a router and another (two needed) for the bridge where you can then connect your computer to the bridge.

To be honest I'm not quite sure what any of this means ... not to savy with computer components and such

Okay, no worries. For starters, what is the model of your router? And how many devices do you have connected to it? This can be computers, TVs, DVRs, game consoles, phones, refrigerators, cars, etc.
