My ATI(AMD) XFX 5870 Reference Cooler fan has seized after 2 1/2 years of use.
Looking for suggestions for a comparable replacement or slight upgrade.
Gaming on 23" 1920X1080.  The rest of system specs are in signature.

Yes I know an after market cooler is also an option.

I would search Newegg for 5870 coolers.  After market coolers pop up from $50 - $150.  Any chance the card is still under warranty?   If so a RMA might be the cheaper route.

When you asked for comparable replacement I'm assuming you meant the cooler.

If you meant a card replace, then the HD 7850 for about $230 is very close if not a bit better in performance I believe.

Not a problem.           After I thought about it, I figured that was it. I can't link from this tablet so google   Anandtech gpu bench....go to gpu2012 and select any two cards to compare.   The 5870 is there.    Good luck.

Thanks for the replies so far gents.
AnandTech was a good read.  Makes me realize that I need to make more money if I want that Radeon 7970 or GTX690.

I got lucky.  On a whim I stopped by a little local Computer Repair shop.  They had a non working card that had the fan I needed.  They were willing to cannibalize and I got the fan for $10.  So I am back up and running.

$10 is lots better than $200 plus.   Glad it worked out.
