So, the new GTX 1080 has been unveiled, Faster than the Titan at half the price was a headline I saw...I was just about to pull the trigger on my new desktop when I saw, seems to be worth the wait, seeing as it launches June 10th
http://www.polygon.com/2016/5/7/11615780/nvidia-gtx-1080-launch-date-price Boasts that it bests the Titan, and 2 980's linked Runs cooler and more efficient and leaves plenty of room to be overclocked especially when cooled... I am excited it looks like I have to put my system on the backburner for a few more weeks. Edited by Democules - 07 May 2016 at 9:03am |

Yeah, I would wait. Maybe by then we can see actual benchmarks with various games vs the 980/980 ti. Supposedly, the 1080 is about 20-25% faster than the 980ti at less tdp, 180 vs 250 tdp.
The bump in performance is pretty typical of next generation cards. |

When do you all think you will offer the 1080s with waterblock options in your systems? - Xii |

The 1080 that comes out in May though is the Founder's Edition for like $100 more. I see no point in it.
I'm going to wait it out a little and see if there are plans for a 1080 Ti. I typically wait for the Ti's instead of the normal xx80. Drop these crappy ass 980 Ti's I got now. But, I'm going to be doing a whole new build over the next several months. I need to wait for proper 1080 Ti cards and waterblocks to come out, so I have nothing but time to work on everything else for the build. Going to do my first Case Labs build this time around. So excited for all the new hardware this year. |

man, I don't know what to do lol, waiting for the TI would be ideal, but my system now is falling apart and I really need a new gaming rig, it has been 7 years since I had a top end system. do you happen to know the typical wait period before they launch the Ti versions?

If I was you, and I know I'll be upgrading to the Ti's when they are released, I'd probably try and pick up a 970 to hold me over until the 1080 ti drops. A 970 will/should be pretty cheap here very soon, and it's more than good enough to at least temp carry you.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1080 I still want to see how it performs. Hopefully places link AnandTech will be able to test both the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 soon. |

i can see springing for a 1070 here soon because you'll be able to do 2K really, really well with it, whereas a 970 does 1080p really, really well. the 1080 does nothing for anyone that can't already be done with 980, 980ti, and Titan X, with the exception of better power savings. anyone wanting to do 4K really well will still need 2 cards.
will there be a "ti" version? there will certainly be versions of the top end cards featuring HBM2 in ~9 mos. i suspect there will be additional performance boosts as well. i also don't favor a $100 premium on first run cards for early adopters due to limited production quantities, which is what this "Founders Edition" stuff is all about. |

@DS staff
Is there any chance you guys can load up the new cards on your build options so that we can start ordering them in new build computers? |
