most of the things that make Pascal interesting are only for the server community.  their "mezzanine" connector for NvLink is ONLY for server/super computers.  consumers will be stuck with PCIe Pascal, later this year.  as far as anyone outside of Nvidia knows, we aren't sure  they'll even provide NvLink Pascal for consumer use.  even if they do at some point, it would require mobo vendors to come up with a new mobo and these cards would NOT be backwards compatible.

so, no new gpu>gpu interconnect for consumers.  which means we're still stuck with crappy old sli.  PCIe 4.0 is also years away, so we won't be seeing any bandwidth increases there.

unless you're part of the HPC crowd, i just don't see what Pascal's got gamers excited about.  for me, early on, it was strictly about the multi vid card interconnect.  early hype was about the possibility of replacing an ancient/decrepit tech with a much needed new one, but alas, that's still a long ways off.

Very true. I do say that the overall efficiency of the platform and performance should get people excited. Hopefully NVIDIA will unlock more performance out of their GPUs, but that's only if AMD is competitive enough.
