NVIDIA is going to start putting desktop GTX 980s in laptops next month. Cooling seems like it will be a real challenge.

Saw that over on Twitter just now.....I agree - lotta heat !!!

I'm running the GTX 980 in my DS desktop rig and its a fantastic card......but having had overheating issues with other gaming laptops (yes....before I was converted to DS     ) I don't even know how they would cool that beast !!!

They are going to be under-clocked, under-volted, and heavily binned to the least leaky chips.  They will also probably be $$$$.

In order to get proper clocking NVIDIA says the laptop must be connected to AC power.

That's been the case with any Nvidia laptop part of recent vintage.  My old 460M and my current 880M all lower the clocks when running on battery.  980M is the same, I believe.
