Topic: Help computer won't boot Posted: 18 Feb 2017 at 9:14pm |
I cleaned my computer and when I plugged in it said that my computer couldn't boot because of failed overclock, so I went into my bios changed voltage and everything to where I had it previously and now it will boot my computer but none of my USB ports or monitors will work.

Tough to say with the info given, but I hope you stayed static free while cleaning it and I would also check all the power supply cables to the graphics card, the 2 to the motherboard and the two plugs going to each HDD or SSD. Maybe you bumped something loose.
An overclock failure can happen if you hit a cmos clear button by mistake, an improper shutdown, etc. Check for a loose ram stick by reseating them. Same for graphics cards. Good luck and let us know. |

I tried re seating and everything for my gpu, my ram, undid everything possible and plugged it back. I tried cmos battery, the jumpers for both voltage and for the cmos, and still nothing. It booted up saying overclocked failed and my voltage is set normally to 1.4v. And it still won't run anything. Everything powers on, but none my stuff that connects to the tower works

I know its tough to explain, but if the motherboard, mobo, is powering up then something, usb, Bios, graphics, something would be working.
Are the fans running, the lights all coming on, especially on the mobo, cpu cooler fans running ? Are the graphics card fans running ? What are your system specs ? If your mobo has integrated graphics , like a Z170, then plug your monitor into one of the mobo graphics ports near the usb and audio connections after removing the graphics card. Do the Caps Lock and Num Locks keys light when presses ? This will tell you if it booted to Windows without a screen to look at. The only time I've seen or heard of no graphics display or USB or audio, etc is when the cpu itself got fried, but that's just me. Could be the mobo. Unplug your drives and see if it boots to Bios if the screen works. . Edited by bprat22 - 19 Feb 2017 at 7:59am |

Ya my lights, fans, my digital little motherboard meter turns on, all my ram leads turn on, but none of the mouse and keyboard works. I have the velox three system with the nvidia 1080, the Asusx99, 3000mhz ram, i7 59xx don't remember the last two digits.

No mouse and keyboard but what about graphics card to the monitor ? Any display ?
Are you using the front or rear USB ports ? That X99 doesn't have integrtaed graphics so ignore that check. Which X99 board do you have ? Some have a 2 digit led display for troubleshooting. Some have a MemOK button you can push to check the ram. |

Ya it has a mem! OK button, one led panel with a number and two reset switches. There is no display and I've tried both my 3.1 USB and 3.0 USB ports. I've tried my monitor in both hdmi and with the dvid.

Does the the mobo LED display have a number ? If it does a Google to see what it means might help. usually if the cpu gets fried a number will let you know. I don't remember what the numbers point to but could try to ind out.
If you have a CMOS clear button then use it to clear cmos. Or, there will be a jumper that does the same thing. Use the mobo manual for the proper procedure. No graphics or USB and the lights and fans come on tells me, just a guess of course, that the cpu or chipset got damaged somehow. Use MEM OK button to check ram. The manual has the proper steps. I've tried the cmos jumper and removing the battery, and even tried battery completely out to see if it boots, but no dice. It shows 99 unless it's upside down then it's 66. Thank you for the quick replies and everything

If the list I looked at is still current, then a 99 Q code is a I/O fault which makes sense with no USB working. USB comes through the chipset usually. It can be a bad mobo or loose connection. Recheck and reseat the 24 pin connector and especially the 6/8 pin connector above the cpu to the mobo.
Graphics comes from the cpu and not the chipset so a bad mobo is more likely. Just to cover all bases. recheck the cables to the mobo, clear cmos, unplug the rig, hold in the power on button for several seconds and plug back in and then see if anything changed. After all that a call to DS might be the wise choice. They do have tools we don't have, like a better database, more experience, remote into the computer, etc. Edited by bprat22 - 19 Feb 2017 at 8:51am |

Just thinking...your Velox has the mobo sitting inverted so the Q code might be the 66. If so that's a cpu initialization from the list I looked at. Goes back to a bad connection or a blown mobo, cpu etc.
