It's my first time tinkering with a computer, I upgraded my power supply and graphics card. I upgraded my power supply to an evga 750 watt gold and my graphics card to an MSI r9 390 8 GB. Also note that I used an anti static wristband the entire time while working on it. I plugged the hdmi into the graphics card and booted up but there wasn't any display at all. I'm freaking out, did I just ruin my computer!? Everything seems to be working, the fans are spinning and the motherboard is lighting up as well as allowing peripherals to work. Please help I don't know what to do!

Should I have used cpu2 instead of cpu1 when plugging in the power cable for the cpu?

Double check the PCIE power connectors from the power supply to the graphics card.   The card's fan is turning?

I would remove and then re seat the graphics card.   If it's getting power and its seated properly in the correct PCIE slot then it could be a bad card.   Or the HDMI cable but probably not if it was working before the card swap.

Do the caps lock and num lock keys light when pressed? Just making sure the mobo is actually loading the OS.

Does your mobo have integrated graphics? If so, try using that just to check the mobo, drives, etc.

Not sure if you swapped both the supply and card at the same time, but it's best to do one at a time, checking each before moving on.   Just less to troubleshoot.

Yes, the caps lock and num lock keys light up. And it doesn't have integrated graphics as far as I know. It's the motherboard that comes with the vanquish 4 level 1. I guess I'll try taking the card out and putting it back in.

Still no display even in motherboard hdmi slot, it could be that I need to reset my bios but what's the best way to do that? I don't have anything but my bare hands to do it. And an anti static wristband of course.

Okay so I put in my old graphics card and it booted just fine and is working. I must have to reset my bios, I'm not ready to accept that the card is bad just yet. So should I uninstall the nvidia drivers? I'm switching from nvidia to amd. Please tell me everything I need to do before putting my new card back in

I ended up fixing it hours ago. I missed one tiny cable that I needed to plug into the power supply and it wasn't plugged in that well to the PCI slot. Thanks for all the help everyone though.

For your first time tinkering, only to be beset by a missed 'one tiny cable", I would say that was a success. You probably learned quite a bit from this experience and now have a better, faster machine that you helped create.

So, Congrats!, and enjoy the new power.
