I received my new Digital storm computer with a 256GB SSD and 1 TB HHD. I was trying to primarily use my HHD for my games but anytime I download anything on it, those particular programs either don't finish updating or they just freeze and not respond. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong with this.

Hard to say from here, depending on the programs, etc.   In general, you’re not doing anything wrong.   You select the HDD path for download and install and just sit back. Make sure you’ve selected the right path .

If it’s on any program I personally would run chkdsk for any errors.   If still an issue then go into Disc Management, use Search, and make sure it’s seen and enabled, meaning a blue bar over it.     From there you can also right click it’s space and format, enable, etc if needed.

Also check the connections to the drive, a SATA cable from it to motherboard and power connection from power supply.
