A little overkill in certain areas.

If you don't plan on upgrading, you don't need a 850W PSU.

If you do plan on upgrading in future, why not get the cheaper 8800 GTS 320mb, it runs all the current and upcoming games on high settings & resolutions amazingly.

That is also with the ram, do you really need 4GB for a gaming machine? If you don't plan on running 3 games at once then it's pointless. The only games that can possibly use 4GB is games from EA. You also need Vista x64 for your PC to recognize 4gb.

What do you plan on doing with 640GB of space? A little waste of money I think that could be spent on something else in life.

I was planning on getting Vista. I use some mmo's and sometimes have a few running at a time so thats why I was looking at 4gb. mostly just dual games at once sometimes.

I plan on upgrading somethings next year when new video cards come ou with new direct x. If 8800 GTS works just as good that works for me thank you.

I was also thinking about getting a faster 10k rpm hard drive to run my operating system and games off of and use dual hard drives just to store my music and video's on.

An 8800 GTS will be fine for MMOs unless you plan on running two clients on high settings at 1600x1200 or higher O.O! I would also suggest getting a quad-core as it will perform much better then a duo core for multi-tasking.

Microsoft has confirmed that DX10.1 will not require a new GPU. All GeForce 8 series cards will support DX10.1. DX11 is scheduled to come out in 2009.

My only question is the the intel quad 6600 runs at 2.4 Ghz and the dual core is at 3.0. Even being quad core will it perform better then the dual core. If you go up one level more on the quad core it is 700 dollars more and that pushes it out of my price range as of right now.

Thank you for your help.

Q6600 is an excellent processor, it's on par with E6850.

You can run a game or do a task on each core at 2.4ghz, it's much better for multi-tasking.

You can always request Digital Storm to overclock the Q6600 to 3.0ghz or 3.2ghz if you are worried about it being a little slow.

And again you don't need 640GB of space or else you wouldn't be spending so little on a computer =\ I don't know anyone with 200GB worth of quality music, photos, and video. You can always store music, photos, video, ... on dvds, usb drives, or your ipod also.

Would be my build if I was in your shoes.
