Looks like I have to disassemble half the front of the rig to to get to them.
Don't want to. It's a Vanquish and the front 2 120mm fans are starting to drive me nuts. They sound like they are clipping something or vibrating the frame. Tried tightening and or backing off every screw I can reach I can sometimes wonk them with my finger and they will simmer down for awhile. They were deathly quiet when I got this machine, now they are getting annoying as heck. I have 2 brand new 120 mms...I just don't know how to get to them to replace them. ( I know and accept fan failure ) Does the front panel come off ....somehow ? From the inside it looks like I need to remove a HD / SSD cage first...but everything is so tight in there and I got big beefy mitts. I'm really afraid of screwing something up. Are there specs or guides somewhere ? Other then the front fans it has been a very stable and capable machine...eats up every game I've thrown at it. Probably the best pre- built I ever bought. No complaints there. (Except the fact I needed to get a sound card for decent 5.1 or higher....but all computers I have bought are like that..on board blows big time ) And yes I clean the machine with compressed air every month. Thank you kind soul.
Now all I have to do is find somebody with small hands...lol. Getting it off to wash the filter sure beats vacuuming and compressed air. Also didn't realize it had a PS filter. Learn something new everyday. Thanks again. |

Actually, I have larger than normal hands and I can report that the front panel is a bugger to remove but it does get easier with practice.

I was able to quiet one of the fans ( top one ) by loosing the screws a quarter turn on one side.
I'll take it apart again and see if I can't do the same to the bottom one. And you were right once you take it off , it's alot easier. The big thing was that at certain frequencies a fan or motor ( out of sync )can cause irritation, nausea. headaches and general sense of ill being. So far now I just have the top fan running... Big difference! Quiet as a whisper. |
