Hi All- I'm back after many years of enjoyment with my DS desktop. It's time for a replacement, and while I'd like to jump in and configure a new desktop, life (wife and kids) are directing me to a laptop- one where I can game in my office, but also on the living room couch, etc. The base models are a bit above my budget...but I had a great experience before, so I'm back.
I was wondering if there was any repeat customer concessions? :) Budget: about 2k Expectations: solid gaming, but doesn't have to be over the top. Would like to stay contemporary for 3+ years Usage: Living room gaming in front of TV Special Needs: Saved Ticket #: [Please Type Here] Specifications: nothing specific...welcome to suggestions Edited by dswany777 - 25 Sep 2016 at 1:05pm |

Well the games more powerful and your gpu stays the same so about 3 years its probably gonna not do as good as it would be doing today and in laptops.
I not a big laptop guy anymore so I think bp will be your best bet, change your thread title to include the word laptop and that should get his attention. |

thanks for the response. I'm not a 'laptop' guy either...just looking for a happy medium so that I can play Civ 6 on the couch while my wife and I 'watch' the Voice or some other crap.

Well looking at the laptops I see your budget is gonna have to up.
lowest I would recommend would be this one tho you can drop the 950 m.2 ssd and instead go with the 850 evo, I chose the 6700k because you want it to stay as powerful as possible I would have chosen the 1080m for the same reason but I am already way over budget: Ticket Number: 1495196 I was looking at a laptop for a family member with similar specs but bigger screen here and decided to go with a desktop instead due to less cost and more power/longevity for her. thanks again...I'm ok going over. Believe it or not my hardest decision is screen size right now. 50% of the time this thing will be on a desk along side my work laptop, the other half it's on my lap in front of TV during the evenings. I want '17 but feel like I'll be annoyed with the size/weight while on the couch.
Anybody else do any couch gaming that can share their experiences? |

sorry, one more question. I read somewhere that DS doesn't build their own laptops, just resells some other? Could that be true?

No custom builder builds their own laptop, what they do is get the laptop but put their own cpu/gpu and etc in it and make it their own.
Try to get a 6700k in a dell/hp and see what happens. Keep in mind these laptops with 6700k will beat any hp/dell or similar builds up and down the street in its sleep. Personally I can't go with lower then 17inch Edited by DST4ME - 25 Sep 2016 at 1:44pm |

I just received my new Digital Storm laptop last Friday. It has been nothing but a headache. I put in my technical help ticket yesterday morning. The e-mail reply said I would have help within 24 hour. No help yet. It has crashed 4 times already today. Good luck to you. |

All of our laptops are fully built, tested, QA, and shipped from our facility. We do not manufacture the actual laptop chassis, that is from an ODM, just like all the other computer companies. |
