Is 500fps achievable in CS:S?

Well, i play a map called Breakfloor.
My computer gets like constant 60fps on it with all ultra high and im running a hd4850.

My dad, running 2x 4870x2's in crossfire, and an aegia physxcard only achieves 250, the max is 300.
And someone said they have 450 fps, is he lieing?

fps_max 500

Ive done this, my point is when in-game my dad has like top of the line graphics and his fps doesnt even hit 300 on breakfloor...

This guy says he gets 450 and his friend gets 600, id imagine like tri-sli GTX280's would do good but not 200 more fps than 2 4870x2's.

your dad might be playing at a very high resolution with max settings while the other dude might be playing at a low resolution and low settings.

I have a 8800GT and can get a peak of 340 FPS at low settings.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

lol.. well he must play a very low reso, because i put fps_max 500 in console and went from widscreen 1440x900 to normal 4:3 1024x768 and turned off aa and my fps popped up to 500 and didnt move tried fps_max 700 and it went to 680-700, didnt think it was possible but i guess so

Edit: this was done on my dads pc, mine only hit 290 :P
